More EU maintenance this morning?

3 days in a row. I expect some very unhappy campers waking up. More-so if the "maintenance" goes on for ~7 hours again like yesterday.

Almost 6pm here. Just got home all keen to play for a bit, but nope. What's the reason for another maintenance

Just as an FYI: The maintenance yesterday was no maintenance but an outage, it was unplanned.
Of course we don't know for sure but I would assume that today's maintenance wasn't planned but it is a maintenance necessary to switch out some hardware or whatever was the cause for the outage yesterday.

I'm with you @Legedric lots of different reasons etc, different things. I guess it would be cool if they posted what was up / going on.

Might stop the whining / speculation on here.....however alot of IT firms are quite backward in their comms on downtime, they feel it's a negative to talk about problems like they are accepting them, whereas actually most progressive IT firms.have learnt that open honnest comms leads to happier customers.

It's awesome that they extended Imperial City and that generated good feeling. I personally would have put on the note, "in lieu of the unplanned outage Wednesday we have extended the event, however there will also be maintenance Thursday some.of which could not be completed Wednesday due to the outtage, and some of the work is remedial work from it." Good news / bad news sandwich.

I've never really seen open book comms go wrong, but hey I dont work in a games company or in marketing. And either way it is just a game, everyone will be back Friday, and still on Crown store / ESO plus so there's no impact beyond some neg on here.

Well I see your point but I finish work at 6am and like to play for an hour or 2 after a shift, before I go to bed. Now I have to watch youtube instead cos nobody's awake and everywhere is closed. I'm just wondering why and for how long, lack of communication is frustrating, so I'm frustrated.

Oh I wasn't literally saying that to you sorry lol, it was meant to be a joke. I can't tell you how many times I'll restart the launcher over and over thinking I'll see online whenever NA is down for longer than expected. Totally sucks I feel ya.

You are quite right, you only lose ESO+ perks and carry on playing for not 1 penny more. I've done the same after this ongoing frustration with the overall EU service. It's not the fact they have problems, hell every business does: it's the fact they totally fail to communicate and show that they give a s**t about paying customers.

Losing my £84+ ($120+) a year may mean nothing to ZoS, but if only 10,000 subscribers of the 7 million players they claim feel and do the same (0.14%), than they reduce revenue by $1.2m a year. Maybe they will wake up to the fact that they have to start considering and communicating with the community more effectively.

I think they ran into problems the night before that they needed to fix and thats why they shut down all the eu servers so they can fix it. I would not be surprised if Eu servers are offline for at least 7 to 8 hours

My ESO+ expires tomorrow and right now I don't plan to sub again. Sorry, but this ridiculous and unexplained down times and the gambling boxes are enough for me.

I was just thinking this. About 2 weeks ago I came back to the game after a year off and was quite impressed with the amount of content, so subbed for 6 months.

However, I can immediately tell the support is the same abysmal joke it always was, and was one of the main reasons for leaving anyway. A really excellent game in the hands of low skilled people with a terrible attitude to customer service. Main issue is the lack of comms, but it's been the same since launch so I don't think ZOS will ever wake up to the fact that customers can tolerate technical issues, if there is a basic level of comms. If you combine ongoing technical problems with poor comms, then you will lose customers over time, and it's a certainty that you will never grow your customer base to any meaningful degree, because the worse the supplier's communication is, the more those annoyed customers WILL be openly communicating about the bad service.

The ESO monthly sub costs the same as a month of a highly complex and premium business service, such as Office 365. The latter of course has financially backed SLAs, a highly responsive and knowledgeable support team, a very strong communications strategy, and a yearly uptime of 99.97%, wherever you are in the world.

If a company like Microsoft can deliver all that and still turn great profits, you really have to draw the conclusion that ZOS are either truly incompetent, or simply gouging the player base.

This data centre has no f'ing clue what it's doing. None of my companies data centres need "maintenence" as frequently as this, nor does it ever take as long. And they serve ....a nation of 66m people domestic TV, on demand TV digital and online services, the entire news network.

Hopefully that eight hours will not be 12 hours but I would not be surprised if its a 12 hour maintenance.
For one they have three servers, or four plus the accounting store they have to do. So I suspect doing each one would take time. So yeah don't expect to be in game this morning.
