If my Imperial character ends up fighting against Imperial NPC's...

Depends on where youre fighting them but most imperials we encounter right now are going rogue. Whether it be 1 or 2 of them or whole legions.
If you want me to reply to your comment type @Ankael07 in it.

Depends on how you want to look at it. From a rp point 1) you saw the deadric influence with manny and the worms so your fighting to stop this 2) you are nord in all ways but birth the stormcloak of the past

The Imperial Legion is literally attacking their own people, so it's not like they gave you much of a choice.

Especially if you used to live in Bravil, like my Imperial :(
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

It's at least good to know that my character isn't the only one. :)

    1) Yikes! Good point.

    2) Not in this case. ;)

Also a good point. Hopefully the Imperial citizens don't mistake my Imperial for a Daedric-infested one. :o

My Imperial is a disenchanted Templar who defected to the pact! He won't go out of his way to kill Imperials but won't let them get in his way either!
Celebrate for life is short but sweet for certain.

Most of the Imperials you meet are either infected by Daedra, (example; Legion Zero in IC) or are little more than bandits at this point. Well trained and well equipped bandits, but bandits none the less. There's a quest in Bangkorai where you help an Imperial captain and she explains the downfall of the legions.

I don't know. After completing Cadwell's Gold you lose all sense of who you are. Aiding the rival king and queen in the war immediately after helping your own king, and killing thousands of fellow Bretons along the way. Also, I've betrayed countless members of the Mages and Fighters Guild by robbing and assassinating them after I joined the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood. Every now and then you sit back and think to yourself, "What the *** am I doing?"

Does the recent introduction of One Tamriel change the dynamic of this somewhat, at least outside of Cyrodiil? :o

The empire has fallen. Some of the remains are under the control of nobles trying to keep their landsa together, more of the remains are under the control of the worm cult and practically working for molag bal, and the rest are all defectors, some running to join the other alliances to fight against the daedric taint and hoping to one day free their homelands from the yoke of coldharbour, (yup, that would include all the player characters) and some just turning bandit...

In the end, who is a traitor and who is not is determined by who wins. All those imperials your imperial characters meeds over the edge of their blades? They are the traitors, for joining forces with daedric cults, for turning bandit, for joining with some warlord, for joining with one of the other alliances! You fight for the restoration of the empire after all! (of course, they are saying the same about you, so... whoever is left standing gets to tell the tale, and thus revel in "being right" ;) )

Once the Empire is eventually cleansed of the daedric menace, should the Imperial player characters return there to help rebuild or instead stay permanently with the alliance that they allied with?

not terriably important as cyrodil will remain a war zone likely for the next 300 years

I'd say it depends on the patriotism of the character, and the sympathies of whomever manages to hold power in Cyrodiil once the Imperial City is reclaimed. If for example the Tharns managed to reclaim power in Cyrodiil, Imperials that fled to serve other alliances may be considered traitors.

Good point, especially ironic considering that many (perhaps most?) Imperials who served other alliances did it primarily to somehow save the Empire from Molag Bal. :o

    No.

Imperials are just an ethnic people group but it doesn't mean an ideology. The Reman dynasty is dead and was replaced by a snake who was replaced by many things including the daedra worshipping madmen from the Reach (Longhouse Emperors). Emperor Varen was a brief momentary reprieve in history before Molag Bal's invasion and our characters come on the scene. In that kind of setting where you have monstrous daedra running among and commanding Imperial troops through Mannimarco, is it hard to find it odd that many Imperials will wage war against what could clearly be considered as traitors to humanity as a whole? There are many good examples of this fighting already in Imperial City anyway.

We see similar struggles in Auridon as well of Altmer vs. Altmer. Its not about the races but ideas and doing the right thing.

    Good points. Thank you. :)

Is it possible that remnants of Molag Bal loyalists will have later remained in hiding in the other The Elder Scrolls games that'd taken place after TESO? :open_mouth:

I'm unfortunately not as familiar with those. What's happening there?

I actually think an Imperial character is the perfect hero for this time. He/she is impartial to every ruler, cares for the whole of Tamriel, and fights to re-unify the Empire. Cadwell's silver and gold are just experiences for the other races, but for the Imperial, it's just reinforcing what they already know; that everyone is splintered, and all the other races need a leader who cares about everyone equally, not a leader who thinks the other 2 leaders are weak/children.

    It's the perfect theory imo.
