After 2000+ Hours, I did my first Dungeon.

I have been playing since closed Beta back in very early 2014. I have done a lot and have primarily been a Hard Core PvPer, as well as crafting, questing etc.

However, today I told myself to do a Dungeon for the very first time. As I had never really done one before. I had done 1 or 2 back at Launch Week just while levelling with some friends but all my friends stopped playing after a while (I know, I'm all alone :( ) so I never really did them properly. So I never touched Dungeons again for 2 Years.

I decided to build my DK as a Tank so I Bought some gear, Crafted some other Gear, made a Build and went with it. I got the 2 Pledges from the Undaunted Enclave for the very First time and then used the Group Finder. This took me to neither of the Pledge Dungeons but I didn't really mind.

My first Dungeon was Cradle of Shadows and we went through the Dungeon not wiping a single time till the last boss, where we wiped quite a few times. However we completed it and it was some really great fun and super enjoyable. (I got no Velidreth Monster Mask though :( )

So then I saw a group LF a Tank so I joined up and we did the Silver and Gold Pledge with Relative ease and it felt really great. I got my first ever Monster Mask that wasn't bought with AP and got my Silver and Gold key and overall just had a really great time.

I am now super happy that I forced myself to do some dungeons today as I never thought I would do them. After 2.5 years of not touching them I was scared that I would not be good enough for the groups I was in to handle things and was also worried that if I said it was my first time Dungeoning they would just kick me from the group.

Instead, what I got was to meet some really pleasant people who told me some of the Mechanics of bosses and were overall just a really great bunch, some are not on my friends list  and I'm super happy as I'm now planning to do a whole lot more Dungeons and PvE content as I really, really enjoyed it.

If you are someone who is a PvPer and hasn't got into dungeons I would really recommend that you give them a try!

Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out into the world

P.S: Should I keep my Keys or just use them now? Thanks.

Use them if you want any particular shoulder at the moment, save them if you want one of the new ones coming next month. All keys will be converted.

I'm guessing you're a maxed level/CP player with quite a large coin purse and most if not all your traits researched, so just deciding one day to make your build was fairly easy for you, not to mention you've been playing for so long you know exactly what to do and how to do it, regardless if you knew mechanics or not.

And you thought you might have a bad time, why?

Glad you enjoyed your Dungeon experience, but please don't start making threads about how easy they are and the Devs need to buff the difficulty.

I didn't think they were too easy and that's not what I'm trying to put across here. I was just trying to say that if there are PvP players who are nervous to PvE they should give it a try.

Lol in that case I think you were just an exception. Most hardcore PvPlayers already believe PvE is too easy for them, that's why they spend all their time in Cyrodiil cause only other players can give them a challenge.

I have only been playing for close to a year now and I was in a similar situation as you. Hardcore PvPer who had no thoughts of ever doing PvE. Then about two months ago I forced myself to do the two pledges and boy did I love them. I literally have done nothing except PvE content since then, and have recently started trials and such.

Unfortunately I was never "good" at PvP. Although there really is no way to judge that other than yourself in cyrodiil. Maybe I will find I am an amazing dueller, but not so good in open world. Who knows.

The funny thing is that on the occasions I've run a dungeon with a PVP player, most of the time they're terribad at it and die all the time.

Of course, that's because it's totally different from PVP, and there's a learning curve to it. I've also found that PVPers who are willing to learn and get advice on how they could improve in group dungeons end up being just fine. The ones that stick to their uber PVP build stay terribad.

I remember there was one guy I ran a couple of dungeons with who kept getting one-shotted over and over again, because his build & rotation relied on having all stats and enchants in stamina, and on using drinks for regen, and he refused to switch. So his health was a massive 10-12K, and he spent more time dead than alive.

The moral of the story: be willing to try out parts of the game you don't usually try because you might find you enjoy them. At the same time, be willing to adapt, because what works for you normally may not work at all in that content.

OP, I'm glad you found something new in the game that you enjoy, and I'm glad you came into it with the right attitude (ie. I may not be great at this right away and I may need to change my setup to become good).

I'm also glad you ended up with some good folks - PUGs can be hit and miss. They can be great, or they can be terrible, and they're usually somewhere in between. More often than not, though, they end up being fun. Doing group dungeons with friends and guildies is even more fun of course :)

Yeah those keys. I've a stack of gold and silver I accumulated over the past couple of weeks 'cos I DON'T WANT TRAINING/PROSPEROUS gear.

What's the situation now; is it safe to use the keys?

    PvPer = HARDCOOOOOORE!

    Don't mess with them boys!

If you're super lucky you might get one in a PUG group..you can tell 'cos they're SUPERHUMAN!

They don't die..damn, I don't even know why they join groups at all, what with the one-shotting and never ending pool of health.

If you get one, you're truly blessed...

Can anyone join a dungeon? I'm new to this game and learning every day but the guilds I've managed to join never have anyone online when I'm on and the only time there was some ppl online they were high level gets talking about a low level vet get being weak, so didn't think my level 17 would be much use to them!!

Yes, in the menu under social titled 'activity finder' you can cue up for a dungeon finder that will find a random group that fits all the roles, a random dungeon and scale you all to the same level. It's easy, it's good fun and if you're a little new to the game, they help you learn how to play it.

DON"T USE THEM - still a truck load of prosperous and training shoulders coming out of the chests. Just got back into the pledges now that the group finder is working better and my fried even got about 3 training/prosperous monster helms in the vet dungeons... WHY WHY WHY WHY????

20k health should be about the go for DPS, over 30k for a tank. A lot depends on the ability of the healer and how much recovery you have. My tanks have about 35k health with food and my DPSs and Healer all have between 20k and 25k with food.

EDIT: I rely on group finder to run dungeons with a friend so never know how good the other players are going to be. If I have a regular and reliable group of people I could get away with less health but I prefer to stay alive.

Depends on your role, how many CP you have and how good you are at avoiding red circles. If you have enough CP (around 250 or more), you can have less health. I run with 17k health as a DPS, and have no issues. And that's my natural health with blue food, as nothing buffs it other than the Warrior Points.

It depends on the role, not the class.

If you're a healer or DPS then 16.5-17K health (buffed with 2-stat food) is the absolute minimum, but only if you're quite experienced with group dungeons. If you're just starting out doing dungeons, 20K is a good number to shoot for, as it will give you a bit of a cushion. Basically 16.5K is enough to keep you from getting one-shotted (although for certain attacks you will still need to block to avoid getting one-shotted), but really doesn't allow you any room for error. If you're really good at staying out of the red, blocking at the right time, and just generally avoiding whatever damage is avoidable, then 16.5K is (barely) enough. But if you haven't done dungeons before, you won't be good enough at those things to get by with 16.5K health, so you'll need a cushion.

If you're a tank then I'd say about 22K health (with either blue or purple food) is probably the minimum, with 25K-30K being more common. For a tank starting out (or one that doesn't have a lot of self-heals), you'd probably want to be closer to 30K. I've seen some tanks with health up to around 40K, but outside of builds that rely on skills that scale off of health, that's typically overkill.

Everything that doesn't go towards getting you to that minimum amount of health should go into your main stat. If you're a magicka build, put everything else into magicka. If you're a stamina build, put everything else into stamina. The exception is if you're a tank, as most tanks use both magicka and stamina - I'd say you want at least 15K in stamina as a tank even if you're primarily a magicka tank. If you're a stamina tank, you probably don't need that much in magicka.

Thanks I'll check it out tonight. Been grinding an area on my own the last few nights but pretty slow going so hopefully can have some fun with some people and level up a bit quicker too. I'm hearing vets understandably complain about getting training gear from these. If I get some it would be a huge bonus as atruggling to find training stuff in stores or in my travels
