Healer Advice

Hello Gentlemen,

I am a DPS Templar CP375 and have seen a lack of good Healers in the dungeons (I've seen some very good one though occasionally). I would like to try something different and help fill a void if possible.

Any good templar healers willing to share some advise on a good build?

Thanks ahead of time.

Nick

First u need to get feel for it, healing in this game can be very frustrating. Then it can be very boring. From my experience find medium that fits your play style. U can look at build from many different healers, find something that works u. Healing is a art, Its not spamming on button unlike dps, its about judging damage. When u cast what and who u heal is priority. Basically jump right in and number one rule dont forget to heal yourself. Enjoy its a different kind of challenge.

Nah! Everyone stack in the glowy circle or you will die! Springs spam coming through!

Edits since someone is actually asking for help i figure i should give some real advice.

If you are really serious about it as a templar start running some normal dungeons. You can get through all of them except for maybe the new ones just using exteneded ritual and breath of life.

Im not saying this is the best way to do it. But it is a very fast and easy way to get use to people and the crazy crap they do while you try to heal them.

And as you feel comfortable with that it is very easy to expand into more suport/dps.

Sounds like you just haven't met the right healers. I've seen some healers that do their jobs just fine. Hell, mine heals good too!

I've been a healer since the beginning and love it.

Some tips on a build though would be to make sustain a very high priority. I can cast Breath of Life 26 times in a row before running out of magicka and they crit for 22k healing. Since you can't heal someone more than 100%, i've found that sacrificing sustain for just a little more spell power isn't worth it... If your Breath of Life hits for 28k instead of 21k... while that is a big difference in numbers, it isn't going to be a huge help for you because of the fact you can't heal anyone more than 100%.

Each group is different and you need to adapt to the situation. Some run self heals and are tanky, others don't even give it a thought and are squishy, and you need to adapt to the situation. Run sets that help the group, providing resources and buffs is also an important part of a healers role.

Don't forget to throw in heavy resto attacks when you have some breathing room to regain magicka, it really makes a huge difference.

Also, put some resources into resistances. A healer should be able to take a hit here and there. I would say run a minimum of 18k health.

And if you ever want a good healer,.. hit me up on ESO!

(PVE only) Until you get spell power cure or the other really good sets like aether or twilight just use Kags 5 piece it has health and regen and some spell damage plus quick rez. I used destro resto but a templar healer does not need those and could run duel wield and resto. Heck some healers dont use resto staff at all. I recommend will power jewelry all arcane. Destro resto is a safe chioce for ult regen and and magic return. Use BOL for emergency heal only or you will run out of magic. I use rital of retribution, rune focus, Blazing spear the AOE DOT really helps the team DPS and the magic from luminous is minimal. I used one kena two torug with helm and destro and resto. five kags and can do all the dungeons easily.

You can go all divines 7 piece or infused on head and Chest and Legs and divine on small. Both are viable. I go sharp on destro and precise on resto. Crit heals are good and better than powered. For the mundus is atronach is a safe bet but mage or ritual is good too some people use the thief but for noobs I would not recommend using it due to ability cost nerfs in recent patches. Blessed is critical and more than 75 cp in this tree is ideal. I am a high elf but breton and argonian are good choices. Using healing springs is common and needed for non templar healer but for a templars that is just not needed and I rarely slot it. There are a few fights where you stack and wack (trials) or need everyone stacked like mephala but most of the time people are too spread out.

Where healers mess up is over healing or not keeping magic up and running out by spamming expensive skills and not saving it for tough parts. Max Magic, spell damage, and spell crit all affect healing there is no best combination known. Doing DPS is important but i throw shards and heavy resto over any other damage when you are pugging. For my guildies i use my pvp set up and sword and shield duel wield and inpen gear. I can clear ICP and WGT easily in all inpen. I would NEVER do that with random PUG people. My typical rotation is throw down rune and ritual and hot with rapid regen and throw shards and BOL once or twice when someones health is dropping. Then repeat. In between I will heavy attack with desto and resto. I try to keep the tank in the ritual to give a small HOT and cleanse if needed and gives them a synergy for undaunted and synergizer passive.

I use trash magic pots mostly having inner light on and entropy. you should have a aedric spear on both bars and use a dawns wrath like sunfire morph or power of the light magic morph ability on occasion (every 15 seconds) for minor spell power buff. Repentance is the best skill you have and don't wait until the fight is over repent every one to two bodies. Stam and health for the DPS and the tank and its free and costs no magic. I keep tri pots and spell power pots in my Q just in case. Sets like worm cult and healers habit are good and if you have them great but you will do just fine with the above. A balance between doing dps and healing should be your goal. I use the retribution ritual morph, power of the light, shards and heavy attack and i can help do pretty decent dps all things considered. On very tough fights I will slot elemental blockade but that is rare. Level alchemy to 50 and place three skill points into medicinal use passive... no exceptions.

    Hope that helps.
