Judging from how it shows on your character screen, it's technically a debuff. So ideally they can switch it on or off at will.

You have to read or watch the article/video for yourself! ^_^
They stated an auto-decline option will be implemented along with dueling.
Said feature working or not that's a different arguement.

I would imagine that it will institute Battle Spirit onto you both when you initiate the duel.

This is something I have been calling for since launch as there is no better way to improve yourself as a 1v1 PvPer.

Even as much as I'd enjoy some proper duels I really think duels are past it's time.

With sets like veldirith around and a few others, to me duels just feel pointless and there really isn't much skill left surrounding the topic.

My Stamblade has around 20k health which wasn't enough for an ambush, dawnbreaker and velidrith proc and I died in 3 seconds, that's just not a duel I'm afraid.

A duel where you can't burst down your opponent and can't outsustain him/her is as pointless to watch as trying to explain to a Nord that there is something else than mead to drink (such as Skooooooooooooooooooomaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....).

Glad they have dueling for those interested, I think there should be no AP for duels to easy to exploit, no exp, it is something for fun and those that think skill is involved you can test that, but with the cheat engine and broken game mechanics I think dueling will just be who ever can cheat and exploit the best, at most maybe an achievement or a tittle for so many duels, good luck out there.
