Does anyone know the deal with the undaunted gold keys for update 12, is it worth keeping them until then or is there a new key system

I would say that is it worth keeping them Definitely. As they are apparently adding 17 New Monster sets, meaning, if you want to get a Shoulder for the new Sets you are gonna need as many keys as you can get.

It seem that the difference between gold, silver and bronze key will disappears. But we don't know yet if it's useful to keep your actual key, we need the PTS for that (or a precise ZOS information).

On the other hand, if there's a current set you're still looking for, go ahead and use the keys before they dilute the RNG table even more.

Bad idea. Shoulder will be separated by categories in the next update. We will have several chests who contain only a few shoulders, so you'll be able to greatly reduce the rng part if you look for a particular set. We already know that we'll have a "dlc" chest with only Kena, Warden, Hat Moja and Velindreth, for example.

    @RoyJade source?
Separating the shoulders into different chests is definitely the only thing that makes sense (RNG-ing with 30 sets would be crazy), so I hope you're right.

As far as we know there will be new system with 1 key for all chests. Bronze/silver/gold keys in your inventory will be revamped into 1 type (so, more keys you have, the better). Bronze/silver/gold chests will be redesigned into chests with old gear, dlc dear, new gear.

May I ask where you got his info from?

100% drop rate on monster headpieces, shoulders divided into chests with different groups of dungeons per chest, so you're not dipping into the full RNG pool for your shoulder.

Yes, it is SEVENTEEN new monster sets. Every single dungeon now has a normal and veteran version.

You can do three Undaunted pledges per day which means (if you do the hard mode for each) six keys every single day and six helms. However, the chests you open are SEPARATE. Basically if you want a Molag Kena shoulder, you only open the "DLC" chest with your keys and only DLC monster shoulders drop out of that chest. This allows you to focus on the particular set you want a bit more.

That would be amazing. I have used somewhere in the area of 100 gold keys since SotH dropped (both saved up from before SotH and acquired since then) and my only Velidreth shoulder is a Light Sturdy or something weak like that. But Medium Prosperous Bogdan? Have about 38 of those. :-(

Being able to reduce this from a 1 in 252 chance of Medium Divines Velidreth (12 monster sets x 3 weights x 7 traits = 252) to a 1 in 108 chance of Medium Divines Velidreth (4 DLC monster sets x 3 weights x 9 traits = 108) would be wonderful. I have upped traits from 7 to 9 because of hints about Impenetrable returning and Nirnhoned becoming more available. I think Training and Prosperous are being removed from Trials, but not dungeons, so I expect we will still see Training and Prosperous in Undaunted chests.

This also makes sense for people who do not own the DLC. Without DLC, you will never get the head piece from those 4 sets and may not want to pollute your loot table with shoulders you can never match to a head. Although I suppose you could buy the head from vendor in Cyrodiil. But who knows how that will work in Update 12? Cycling through 60 different items (30 monster sets x 2 gear slot options (head or shoulder)) could lead to a long, long wait for the item you want at Cyrodiil vendor! They should really change the Cyrodiil vendor, too. Maybe add a different vendor to each captured town, so there are 4 vendors each weekend (1 at gate, 1 each in Bruma, Cropsford, Vlastarus).

Makes sense? This game? Like making gear drop in all three armor types and 8 of 9 traits when only 1 armor type and 3 traits were used?

There is some compensating mechanism to ensure an unbelievably long grind. Mark my words.

    Which basically means:

"There will only be one type of key, all bronze-, silver and gold keys wil be converted to those type of keys. (that means it can be useful to store your bronze- and silver keys!).

There will also be different types of chests, which contains specific sets (for example dlc-dungeon chests), in order to increase the chance of getting the right shoulder piece. The chance for specific traits however will remain the same."

The good news is also that a key is a key, so if you only want a specific shoulder you can get six keys a day (per character) and use them specifically on the chest containing the shoulder you want!

For people who have multiple characters, if you do each daily five times (fairly quick, let's be honest) that's 30 keys in one day to roll for the item you need and you can narrow the odds much more than currently.

All in all it's a great system and answers the calls for less RNG pretty nicely.

So are they adding the helms to the chests too or not? I want my Kena helm already... And didn't they say that helms will be 100% drop?

Helms are not in the chest, but helms are now a 100% drop. I am not sure if you need to do hard mode for the 100% drop chance however.

At any rate, this means three helms and six shoulders per day and a lot easier time farming a specific helm since if you are the only one in your group that needs a certain combo (heavy reinforced, for example) you are effectively farming it 4x faster due to in-group trading.

I don't want to spend 1 hour daily with pugs in a dungeon, just to loose my keys then.

Yeh, i started to save mine as soon as i heard about the change. Would be nice to get some clarity on whether we should save gold keys or not. @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOSJessicaFolsom @ZOSWhoever
