crafters - how do you spend your time

Fellow crafters,

As a new crafter im curious how you spend you in game time.

Do you spend your time crafting for others, or gear to sell. Do you do farming trips, Do you do quests or group things

I love just running around exploring and collect any resource I find. I then stumble of a quest giver so do the quest then get back to running around randomly. To be fair, im only in my second area so pretty much its an open unexplored world for me

I collect as I explore. Stop for a moment and get that bug, plant, stump or rock. Running loops just for the sake of collecting materials gets boring really quick.

^ agreed, I refuse to grind for anything. I've tried various ways and it wrecks my enjoyment.

Dailies on the other hand

I love Dem Writs. Just a slight hiccup with Wrothgar recently

Also agree, collect as you explore.....with my first char i used to run over, under & around everywhere and everything just to get some mats for the writs, but that was when i only owned the clothes on my back

but it was a plus at low lvl, seeing as i probably also found every single chest to be found...ever...... thrice...good times!
Now i have over enough of everything, so no more running around, for any of my chars!
Haven't ever gone farming with a group, just to find surveys with friends...but that was for some good earned xp on the way

Remember fitness shows where they had participants on the show that represented the various intensity / skill levels, well, I occasionally join my pvp guild members who stream and represent all the scrub pvp players out there so viewers get a good comparison of scrub vs skilled people who have learned to play their pvp classes.

It reminds me that I'm a better crafter than a pvper.

As a new Crafter, researching Traits is how I would spend my time. If you approach this the right way, you can be making 6 Trait sets in about month to 6 weeks. Basically, you focus on just the armor and weapons you use at first to get them all to 6 traits, so that is 7/8 armor pieces and one or two weapons.

For the rest of the time, Farm as you go along to from place to place.

Decon everything, if you don't want to save it for trait research. Lock items you want to research so you don't decon them accidently. If your on PC, get an add on to help you track trait research, otherwise, use a spreadsheet (google for them as people have made them and posted them on the web)

For me, since release, there is before leveling Alt-Hirelings and after.

While leveling those alt-hirelings, 7 total, I was running my main-crafter, which turned into my first VR16 and now my only real combat leveled character.

I was running loops as needed to craft my first sets of gear while feeding the hirelings. Research as well and trying to earn some gold with loot sales. Writs on the hirelings as they leveled to build stocks of Prov/Alch/Enchant.

Now with 7 hirelings mostly 9/9 in BS-WW-Cloth, they get 2xday for mail and then I'm now running each of them at a time to get them to L50 to start camping Crag writs for Alch/Prov/Enchant only.

And my 8th character, poor soul, will maybe get back to being my first full CP PVE/PVP attempt.

As a crafter I do everything. I gather a lot, refine. Use it for myself or sell at Guild members or friends.
Per request I craft x sets and pieces, as I've the knowledge for 9 traits I'm able to craft everything.

I quest and do dungeons, deconstruct everything and use it for myself or alternative characters.
I love to gather Style motifs, it keeps you busy.

My first character turned into a master crafter when I realized he was a rubbish build that had done too much research to simply be discarded. After getting another 4 characters to lvl 50 I am now improving him for combat.

I do not sell my wares or advertise my services so I just play the game normally and pick stuff up as I travel. I also deconstruct everything I can for the raw materials, tempers, etc. Due to the other items I sell, if I have to craft something I do not have the materials for i just buy it rather than grind.

Personally, I'll jump on my main crafter and an alt and run my two farming routes before moving on to another alt that I'm levelling.
