Can you walk into a restaurant and ask for a refund for the meal you ate there last Tuesday because you're worried you might not enjoy tonight's meal?

(For the record, I absolutely RNG boxes and will probably unsub as well, but this is just dumb.)

If I had bought a half year buffet pass somewhere near my workplace, and then discovered dead flies in their soup, of course I will ask for full refund!

How many times would you say, in a given year, do you send a meal back?

Don't do it or you risk this happening.

Haven't read through whole thread, but I remember reading a thread about people talking about refunds and ZOS stated that they, basically will not, under any conceivable circumstances (they didn't literally say this, but it's WHAT THEY SAID), refund anyone, for any reason, ever.

Things might've changed since then, I don't know. It was a long time ago.

It's like that one time where some guy bought Collector's Edition via website while logged in to his account, only to find that the game he bought ONLY works in the U.S., but he lives in the EU. No refund. Not even a single F given by ZOS.

What's wrong with the boxes? How will it affect your gameplay? Why does people spending their own money/crowns for boxes matter to you?

If anything it's supporting the game, can you actually be butthurt that someone bought a box and got a costume or some other cosmetic item?

I agree, its just a box for a price with a chance at rare stuff inside. How many people that complain and threaten to quit will actually spend money. I say half, because it so easy to ride the forum train.

What happens if they give subs 5 boxes free a month, would u still be up in arms about it. DCUO has boxes, keys cost $3 ea, but if your a member you can open them for free. Destiny, cod, bf, guild wars, neverwinter, halo and many more games. Did u quit playing those too, because it gambling ring.

In that case, a simple chargeback with the bank would fix it- the product is not fit for purpose, therefore breaks the most basic part of sale of goods law. Unfortunately in this case, as much as I agree with you, and I'm leaving the game for the same reason (if they ever respond to my ticket, 58 hours so far), I think you will just need to write this one off and remember their helpful service when it comes to considering future purchases from this publisher.

As long as it stays to cosmetic items, and I believe housing is included, I really don't see a problem. I played D&D on console and stopped when I realized how P2W it was, those lock boxes gave you legit items that were very expensive and not just cosmetic.

ZOS you do you with your crown store, as long as you don't stoop to P2W I'll always support it (may even pick up a few boxes from my monthly crowns for subbing).

Crown purchases supports the game in a healthy way, and if people want to spend 40$ on a lightning panther let them! Cuz my horse will run just as fast as it. And i really enjoy the fairly rapid dlc expansions, as soon as one drops we start getting teased for another.

Spending 4,000 crowns on a Lightning Panther is not the problem, the problem is people with a weakness for gambling spending 40,000 crowns on dozens of random chets they can't really afford trying to get it via RNG.... this is preying on the weak like the worst companies do, it's sick.

Gambling is everywhere. At the casinos, online, local stores with scratch offs, even kids arcades with the claw machine, etc etc. Business owners don't get crucified for doing any of the proceeding activities and it's the same result. I agree that gambling is a serious issue in the world, but it's been that way for centuries?

I subbed for 180 days in June. At that time if I had known RNG boxes were coming I would not only have not subscribed ESO+, but I would also have deleted and left the game for good. Now, to my surprise, they decided to add RNG boxes to the game despite the fact that they have promised they have no such plan. Therefore, for me personally, the game will soon become a product, on principle, totally different from the product that I have subscribed to. Can I get full refund for the 180 day subscription fee I have paid??

Contact your credit card company or bank, talk it through with their customer service. Usually, this would be past the deadline to report fraud, but, try it anyway.

Note the ingenious way that quote is worded. A year ago they had no plans to do this to us. Just like originally they had no plans to abandon the subscription model. But as we all know by now, their plans can change at the drop of a hat. And I guarantee you that the TOS you signed says it's perfectly okay for them to do this to us. Do I like it? No. I can't word that strongly enough to show my displeasure without incurring a permanent forum ban. But there's no way they are refunding you. That said, I'd ask anyway...and explain why... at great length.

Do bear in mind that those of us who wanted to continue with the game by way of a subscription rather than a cash shop have been able to do so. The way some people talk about the change in business model you'd think ZOS had abandoned subscriptions altogether.

Actually, locking things in as incentives for gambling does negatively impact peoples' play experience. We have to this point been able to make our own decision about how much we're willing to spend on Crown Store items. The gambling service is a complete divorce from what we've come to expect from the service provider and literally prevents us from even making a determination about what price we're willing to pay for an item. Mathematically, there is no amount of boxes we can ever buy which would guarantee getting the items we want, so we can't make informed decisions. That's why you're buying a gambling service and not an item. We're supposed to find entertainment in the gambling itself, but all players actually want are the items.

That is a very good point, but again none of what will be in the box is required to play the game on a competitive level or to access any feature. Most people QQing are just paranoid about it pointing toward the game going F2P in the near future or expecting B2W items to be in the boxes even though mods have already state many times that won't be the case.

To be fair to the QQers, they have pointed out a heaping handful of games that went literally this exact route, first with cosmetic RNG and then with b2w RNG despite assurances that they wouldn't. I mean, ZOS might have some great, friendly employees who honestly love the game, but I can't really blame people for not trusting them given the history. I currently don't believe they'll go f2p or b2w, but that doesn't change my previous argument. I am greatly looking forward to the next patch because of the stellar content it's bringing, but I am so incredibly distraught about not being able to buy the new cosmetic items. I'm certainly not going to gambling for them.

So, first of all just because they didn't have plans for such boxes a year ago doesn't mean they promised that that would never ever change. When you subscribe, you do that with the knowledge that during the period of of your subscription the game may change in meaningful and fundamental ways. That's the risk you took. Just because your choice didn't work out doesn't entitle you to your money back. You chose to subscribe. Deal with it.

And for the record, I don't like the RNG boxes either. Let's not be petulant children about it though. If you want to cancel your next subscription, go for it, but you and I both chose to subscribe knowing the risks, and have to live with the consequences of that decision.

It's more than that. It's not about it going B2W - it's it becoming effectively a casino, like what happened with CS:GO skins.

I agree, let's not be petulant about it. There's still certainly room to contact your bank or credit card company, talk about how they have changed the service, and that you want a partial or complete reimbursement. Worst they can do is say no.

The difference is that in cs:go you can turn those skins into real money, and thats a pretty big difference.

If someone tells you they have no plans of tearing down your house that you rent. Then come a few years later when you have your own family, they say "well Mr GorraShatan we're not gonan accept your rent after this and tearing down your house, now gtfo", then I guess you find that completely justifiable right?

Rare mounts, costumes etc. Items either previously attainable or "limited time" stuff. If this is the only reason you play the game, you should probably quit anyway.
