Weapon damage for ganking

I usually just solo gank on my stam NB in cryodiil or in IC. I'm sometimes with an other ganking friend. But my weapon damage is at 4k is this decent? Or bad?

What's your max stam at? Bow heavy ganking utilizing empower? Do you find the majority of your targets die "instantly"?

I've noticed (not saying this is you) that some people make "gank" builds that are really just NBs with decent damage. I personally consider true gank builds as those that kill the target/s and disappear before anyone even knows what hit them.

My max stam is at 29,500. I use a two handed and duel wield. I do occasionally kill with in 1 or 2 seconds but once in a while it will take a bit to kill someone.

Sounds more like you run a nb rather than a gank build...if that makes sense? And that is 100% okay. If you're having fun with it stick with it, enjoy it! Your stam seems a bit low, but I'm guessing you're a khajiit and run drinks instead of food?

If you do, however, want to switch to a full-gank build I would be happy to give some pointers. But it's definitely not for everyone, and the hate is real.

I'd say run tri food if you can manage it. And I really do suggest if you enjoy how your build plays now, keep it! Ganking is a patience game and at times can be sort of boring/repetitive. You'll also find that sustain becomes limited.

If you want to try out ganking though then you'll have to max out your mage's guild skill line to get the last passive-might of the guild. Switch to the shadow mundus if you don't already run it. Then pretty much just buff up with relentless focus, rally, pop a potion if you run clever alchemist (which I highly recommend), inner light (to proc empower), shadowy disguise, heavy bow attack then surprise attack/ambush and incap if needed. Remembering the rotation, picking appropriate targets, and being decent with animation canceling is really all it takes. It should feel very fluid and fast.

That combo should kill pretty much anyone under 35k health. Especially those without impen ...

Sorry one more question... Can this still be pretty effective without might of the guild?

Without might of the guild, you'll lose a lot of damage on that heavy attack, and you'll find yourself in a similar situation to what you're in now (where it just turns into a 1v1). In fact, I don't think I have ever seen a gank build that doesn't run mage's light for the empower buff.

I know the lorebook grind sucks, but it's worth it !

There are some who use ambush as the empower for the heavy attack. And the pros utilise a passive in CP which gives invisibility after getting a kill with a heavy attack.

Shadowstrike is neat, but rarely now will a heavy attack be enough to kill someone (so you'll need some other attack or ulti meaning no stealth proc). For that reason, I just take the reduce cost and regen from the other trees.

Ambush is good following up a stealth heavy attack imo to empower SA or incap. But I've honestly never seen someone get ambushed and then watch and allow someone to fully charge a heavy attack.

If you like to gank as a NB anyone can do it on the bridge in Cyro. Just hide facing away from traffic, when someone has thier back on their mount to you, empower heavy, heavy attack off the horse, snipe, Ambush, dawnbreaker...dead. anyone with 30k health is gone.

TBH with you ganking is all good and well,
However with some builds you have NO sustain,

Running into a Heavy Armour DK with that is a death sentence,
dont care how much damage you can burst output,

I prefer to do a build with more sustain,
    5 x Viper,
    5 x eternal hunt,

    Works for me.

This. The reason I urged you to keep with your current build if it works for you, OP. Ganking is a favourite for me, but you can't gank everyone you see in Cyrodiil. Some fights you will have to accept that and avoid them.

@Stoopid_Nwah - I agree with you on that.. There is no build that works for all, you need to find one that works for you and if it works, Keep it and Tweek it a bit to improve.

I am not saying you shouldnt try it, i do try various builds incase i like it, keep your old armour for incase

Do you mean ganking as a solo or as a gang which is where the term ganking originated

I think that's part of the thrill of ganking though. I'm working on getting everything leveled up on khajiit ganker (because f*** being a 2 ft tall bosmer) aimed at insta killing targets out of a group and getting away. On that type of build, if you get caught, you're done but if you do it right, you can have lots of fun.

Hilarious lol. And after switching my nb to a "ganking-only" build, I can say it has been the most fun I have had in a long time in Cyrodiil. The escape is the most fun/challenging part for sure...and watching the zerg look for you (spamming aoes, magelight, and revealing flares 30+ meters away from where you're hiding) never gets old.

@Johngo0036 Exactly. Find what works for you and hang on to it; not everyone is lucky enough to find their niche. And 100% agree with keeping old armour. I learned the hard way after deconning a set I didn't think I would need anymore and not one week later had to re-craft it :expressionless:.
