Does anyone else use console text chat?

The console text chat seems so empty, am I just in an empty zone, or is literally nobody using it?

I literally gave it a week cause I was against it.....honestly I've seen ppl use it but less than 100 unique ppl.
Most activity is in the first main town and for undaunted pledge groups. I typed in it always and tried to use it like I would in WoW....

Some also in Craglorn but largely no one on Xbox one NA uses it and it is baren

Which platform? On PS4 it's completely replaced voice chat when forming groups or trading in major cities. People realized they don't want to hear terrible music or people smoking dope and shrieking. Imagine that.

Still rather hilarious that ZoS thought players wouldn't want chat.

How does it work? I'm guessing you use your controller on some kind of interface, but can you plug a keyboard into your console too?

Lots of people are using it, myself included, but mostly in guild/group chat so not somewhere most people will see it unless they're actually playing with me.

Oh that's good. The best controller interface I've seen is a mod for wow but even that looked like a massive pain to use.

It's still a little wonky. AFAIK, all of the commands from PC chat are the same on console chat, but selecting which chat to use is kind of a pain.

You can hit "enter" on a keyboard to instantly pull up the text box. Get a Bluetooth on wireless one. No need for cables. There's also a full screen version in your menu. You can change the font size. Not too many options, but it's not intrusive and it does the trick. Has all the same channels and functions as the PC version.

How so? Just enter /g for group, /g1-5 for guild chats (depending on which order your guilds are listed in), /s for say, /z for zone, and /y for yell. It couldn't be simpler.

I use it.

Finally I can communicate with guildmates. Now we just need a few tweaks...tabs and the ability to send chat from specific channels there.

And the ability to scroll within the small window (unless I'm missing something and it's already there...).

I bought a chatpad to use. There needs to be a tutorial on how to use these things. Someone told me about holding touchpad and options together to bring up chat on right side of screen.

When I first hooked up chatpad, it took place of on screen keyboard. Now on screen keyboard comes up also when using chatpad. It's very annoying when typing away.

I was mostly neutral on text chat but the uses on ps4 are quite good. It won't replace voice, but a cool option.

I use it quite often, and see many others that do the same. The problem with console text chat is that it is VERY easy for someone to spam it. I was at the undaunted in Wayrest a few days ago, and many people were posting LFG requests until some idiot decided to spam it with "Would you like to join a group?" messages for about 10 minutes straight... non-stop.

Other than that, I see a lot of guilds spamming it with recruitment messages. I don't know if there are ways to block certain people's text chat only or not, but they definitely need to put something in place to automatically protect users from spam in text chat, or allow us the ability to do so ourselves. I personally love the addition of it when it is not abused by feeble minded idiots. No offense if you are one of them, but please, grow up.

Used all the time on PS4 NA particularly given the broken group finder. Guild chats popping all the time as well. Feels just like PC for trading and group forming to me.

I use it. I love it. There will be occasional trolls/idiots but they're only there temporarily. Although a lot of people sometimes like to spam linked items.

Anyways, if you've got a keyboard and fast fingers, this thing is a dream.

Typing /jumptoleader and /invite makes everything so much better.

There still needs to be a lot of improvement however, aka separating chat into sections and the ability to mute/turn off certain channels. For example, turning off /yell /emote but still keeping /say /zone /g# and /g.

More options = better
