ESO+ and downtime

Hello everyone,

I understand that maintenances are necesary to keep server runnig as smoothly as possible, and i understand sometimes some unexpected issues pops up and delay whole proces. But I also understand why people are angry and complaining about it here in forums. And some of them have good point. People that are paying mothly subscribtion and have eso+ active loose at least a day of playtime every moth, probably even more.
Is it possible to compensate subscribers with few day eso+? or some crown as a gift? Its the least thing you can to to make people happy and apologize for long maitenance. I really do believe subscribers should get some kind of compensation.

Anyway, to all EU players, have a nice evening, catch a movie or read a book, books are fine.

EDIT: i replace "deserve" with "should get"

    Umm. No.

Maintenance is a required activity for fm companies operating one. They take as long as needed and occur as often as warranted. Anyone who has played a decent MMO is used to regular maintenance.

    yup....

speaking as a human being eso+ subscriber

point 1) the last two weeks the eu servers were up pretty quick, before the na one. i would snigger here but it would be in particularly bad taste given the circumstances.

point 2) i read the tos/eula and understand that zos will do whatever they see fit to do with the servers whenever they like and this is not limited to replacing the hamsters whether they need it or not.

and no i do not feel the need to be reimbursed 40p. whatever next, compensation because i have to stop for a loo break?

Absolutely DESERVE is the right word, as subscribers are paying a fee for a period of time of service. The clock should not tick on ESO plus subscriptions during down time. It's that simple.

Errr, yes. Yes it is. Wish I had you as a customer, easy pickings.

And got to say that on prior threads like this I have said that ZOS were not crossing the line between what can be expected and what becomes a problem - but lately every maintenance has unexplained problems, extra downtimes are creeping up and the logon servers seem to be falling over every fee days.

These things coupled with the ongong lack of communication about bugs, exploits and cheats really hints at a company who are losing control of their game.

They really need to get their game on because if everyone the fanbois tells to shut up and unsub does and the increasing chorus of protest on forums ZOS can't control continues the game is in for tough times.

Meh, people always seem to like complaining I noticed, personally I don't care if I loose a day, I just hope they fix the motif drop rate in Gold Coast form the bounty boards, I haven't gotten any over doing 20+ of those quests.

I have been a member of ESO since April 4th 2014 but didn't get a code until recently when I asked.
My @ name on ESO is the same as on here.

    ESO+ $15 a month.

    15*12 = $180

$180/365 = .49 (rounded) per day of ESO payment

    .49/24 = .02 (rounded) per hour

    .02/60 = .0003 (infinite threes) per minute.

    .0003 * 11hrs (approximate) of downtime.... =.033 cents...

Now seriously, put this into perspective, are you -really- stressing out over 3 and a third cents? Because I have this change jar... if you send me your address, times you'll be home, and your wi-fi password I will gladly get you that 3 and a third cents. :)

Sorry kid, the deer have quite fairly and legally rented out Cyrodiil for their weekly picnic and networking social, so you'll just have to be patient until ZOS kicks out the rest of the berry-intoxicated *** to the zone they came from.

There may also be a monkey guild meeting about that one monkey who was using CE to fling 300 feces a second at anyone trying to open the treasure chest in Monkey's Rest. I don't know. Details are still...

A simple gesture towards the loyal player base wouldn't go amiss, i mean a days loss is pittance, but the gesture itself would be nice.

this is exactly what i ment.
When GW2 was under DDoS atack, it was not their fault that game was laggy for a one day, yet still gave some free gems to players as a gesture and appologize. Same happneded with smite and even league of legends, both are free to play, but companies care about they customers and want them happy.
Here are customers that want game to improve and want to support it, pay subscribtion, and all we got is "thank you for you patience". A little gesture will make players happy and many that are considering to stop paying will reconsider.

BTW, i plead all US players to keep their "get over it" and "its not a big deal" post to themself. I would love to see their reactions if maitenance there was in primetime. thanks

I've been a subscriber on other games and have been a subscriber to Wow for 10 years (no haters please!) but have the view point of other subscriptions and maintenance times. Even in the early years of Wow, when it was establishing itself, maintenance times were never this long. Why is it taking this long in this game? What is the problem that it needs this long? To be fair to subscribers, we are paying real money and expect to be playing the game, I don't care about being compensated, I just want to play the game and I don't enjoy waiting hours and hours every week to get to do that!

The fact the thread keeps coming up means people are not happy. They need to address this or will eventually lose players and

Yes, it's not the fact maintenance is happening but the fact it is so long, if you work and are, like me, currently on holiday then you would perhaps want to play while you've got the opportunity to.

You can fanboi the comments and rage in the forums every week, or biweekly as the case has recently become...

The fact remains that the server downtime for maintenance is far north of ridiculous. Each downtime has come with it additional downtime or additional bug fixes immediately following for the entire month of August. On top of which, downtimes have been slated to be in excess of 10 hours for some patching that doesn't even crest 200 MB. This points at quite a few problems happening on the developer end of the spectrum to include:

    1. Lack of communication between developers resulting in half implimentations.
    2. Inadequate testing of systems prior to patching them live.
    3. Wishy washy project management that seems scared to confront developers about poor coding.
    4. Complete lack of organization on the part of whomever's job it is to make sure these "patch days" go smoothly.

Is there a monetary hit to Zenimax in response to these fledgling mistakes? If not, it'll never change. Is there care enough from Zenimax about this constant debacle to go any further than "I'm sorry, suck it up" to their subscribers? Doesn't seem to be.

So long as it continues you'll have forums rage, and rightly so. All you (generalized) as the free-playing community do by bashing those who are upset is justify ZOS in not fixing the above problems in their infrastructure. Don't kill your own game by turning a blind eye to what's behind the curtain.
