They announced it and there is no in-game developmental reason it would be cancelled... so not sure i see the point in waiting if it means that much to you.

For me, it will be like 90% of the crown store - stuff i dont choose to buy - and have no impact on me whatsoever.

Seems simple enough.

I don't think this system is in favor of the players myself. If people want past Crown Store items, why not rotate them back on the Crown Store instead of locking them into a CHANCE at an item? In any case, this game is an amazing game to me. Sure, it can be a pretty cruddy MMO at times (no auction house, looking for group tool is often busted, pretty decent amount of downtime, NPC mechanics aren't always polished), but it's actually a fantastic Elder Scrolls game imo (I'm a HUGE Elder Scrolls fan, lore and all).

Personally, I would say don't leave. There are a ton of beautifully crafted in game items that have nothing to do with the cash shop. The devs also do provide some pretty nice player appreciative items that have no incentive other than the standard sub model (personalities, free DLC, crafting bag, achievement tied costumes, pretty in game horse mounts, lots of super neat momentos / pets).

In other words, there is an entire game here that has better items than the cash shop. I don't think anyone should quit the game over an extra feature, because what you're giving up isn't really worth a few reskinned mounts, some iffy costumes, and consumables that the base game can compete with. There was an incredible game before these cash shop items, proof - however long you played up until now - and it will still be there after these items come out.

No one has to actually purchase these you know - it won't impact gameplay. I seriously don't get these all or nothing propositions. I'm not buying them but I don't give two shakes if someone else does - choice is an option. Gamble or don't!

but the fact is, for every player leaving due to taking the huff, there will be one or two joining because 'hey, that sounds cool'....

Im sure with every game people start to drop off eventually but with the rate they are adding DLC/maint, I cant see the numbers falling much for along time

I do not understand all the crying because the crown store will have gamble boxes with old stuff in them. You don't need any of it and it's all cosmetic. Is it hurting people with gambling problems immersion that much? I'd say if it is, maybe it's time to see a shrink

I think this is quite an overreaction and whilst I understand RNG loot boxes are seen with some disdain in the gaming community I think once again ZOS have found an implementation that works well for everyone.

Ultimately if you are buying these crates it will be for one thing and that's a mount/costume you do not have yet and is no longer obtainable. You buy ten crates and you are guaranteed ten cool items with a chance to get what you want, awesome! However if you do not get that specific item then your duplicate drops are automatically deconstructed and you can use these Crown Gems to go and buy the specific item you actually want, so it's not pure RNG, you are working towards said item by saving up your gems.

The Crown Crates have nothing but purely cosmetic items and contain some of the items that are no longer obtainable. You do not have to buy them, you can go without or spend your Crowns on other things. It's purely for people who want to work towards getting a collectible they do not have.

Lastly, this is a huge reaction when we do not know the whole story yet. We don't know the price, drop rates, conversion rates or anything to actually be able to formulate an opinion on the subject and that is why it is sensible to avoid hyperbolic statements and wait.

Zenimax have not let us down in any way with the Crown Store and it has stuck to their mantra of cosmetic/convenience items with zero pay to win for a long time now, they won't mess that up.

I'm still waiting for ZOS to get back to confirm closure of the account so will hang on here til they do. Knowing my luck, I'll get Chet as my helper and still be here in 5 years time

The reason I choose to quit right away was nothing to do with creating a scene, walking off in a huff, etc. , it was simple. With these in the game, I will def leave. We know they are def coming, so I see no point investing any more time and effort into my character. I had two years of good fun with the game, and there remains a lot of fun to be had by new players.

However, if the game contained this system in when it launched, I would not have purchased for that reason. Now this system is coming in; it seems a good time for me to leave.

I'm sure that plenty of people will have fun with these boxes and good luck to them. How other people choose to spend their income is up to them. For me, I'm not comfortable supporting situations which I think are taking advantage of people's loyalty; be it in real life or just in a game. The environment changes but the principle remains the same.

On the plus side. I might finally get round to start to write that research paper (which is ironically on consumer behaviour and customer loyalty) i've been putting off for the last 2 months and starting work on that book I have long planned

I feel that if i continued to play the game, even without buying them, I would be condoning them. As I say, this is my view and this is why I'm leaving
