Even though ever poll here has resulted in a small minority of even PvPers wanting arenas or dueling (despite the spam of those who want them) this might be a good thing. It'll keep those who don't contribute to campaigns out of them. If only IC were to be removed from real Cyrodiil.

Interesting cause I don't PvP and I completely agree with what you wrote but for PvE reasons.

This would be a valid statement if the crowds of the forum were representative of the crowds in Cyro.
This is likely not to be the case.
My assumption is that competitive duelers are over-represented here.

Wrong, under represented.

Most "good" players here run in groups and guilds and almost never solo. More randoms and non forum goers have less group/guild interaction and prefer not having to face zergs alone.

All players i have spoken with in game do Not go on forums and DO want arena/1v1/small scale

Dueling is for a certain demographic that would be better served outside of RvR where the whole idea is to form large groups. Just keep it out of Cyrodiil and I don't care. And of course a "do not accept duels" choice on settings.

Clearly there needs to be an option to auto decline duel requests... although on PC I'm sure if ZOS doesn't add the option an add-on developer will.

Now compare that Zerg crowd to the competitive crowd from LoL, Dota, and WoW. Major difference. Smaller competitive PvP will lure in better pvpers. Better pvpers mean better streamers. Better streamers mean better pvp community. Adding more PvP options will only increase the media pop.

Just look on twitch right now. All there is in ESO right now is zerg vs zerg pvp and you can see that no one wants to watch it. People rather watch more competitive games such as LoL, Dota, Overwatch, and so on.

Probably shouldn't assume then. If we are going anecdotal, most of the PvPers I talk to want dueling.

Did they say if it will be possible to disable it?

As long as I can't be attacked randomly and I can't be spammed with duel requests I'm ok with it. Without the ability to diable it this could seriously put me off playing in any area where dueling is enabled.

Well, I did hedge my statements, so I'm happy to admit I'm wrong if presented with evidence that this is the case.

But I don't think anyone has got the data to prove that the population of the forum is a representative sample of the global PvP population.

However, the reactions in this thread, with their classic arrogant "looking-down on zergs" attitude, tend to confirm my intuition that duelers and small scalers come on this forum, well, in ZERGS.

I think the ones who didn't were mostly those who didn't want to be FORCED into dueling. I think the consensus was that if it were OPTIONAL it would be fine.

Finally no need to look for campaign without buffs for 1 side to make duel fair , no need to run half map to start duelling and no need to relog on other alliance char to duel with Your mate to test something.

And plenty of those who dont ,have not even duelled atleast once or not even spended more then 1 hour on cyro. Very important opinions based on game experience and with lot of reasonable arguments...

It would be nice though if they made dueling only in certain areas... because right now we have serious lag issues when major cities get crowded, now imagine if people were dueling in that same area.

Um..... What forums do you read since day 1 95% of the community wanted arenas. Sorry that 95% of players don't like zerg VS zerg or who can lag out the other faction faster. Some PvP players do want a actual fight that is determined by skill and not numbers or who has the bigger cheese build.

On a serious note I think this is a good addition. If you're only gonna be one for a short time you can jump into some duels for quick pvp and always have the option to head into cyrodiil whenever you want. Optional of course.

Why not just decline the request? I assume the duel would function like trading via request. By your logic zos should also have an auto trade request decline option too.
