I am absolutely mired in negativity right now from the lockbox announcement so I thought I'd make a shortlist of excellent changes ZOS has brought/will bring to the game to take my mind off of it for a second.

THINGS DONE
  • Armor Dyes (this for real wasn't in base game. THE HORROR)
  • Shield Dyes
  • Costume Dyeing
  • Collections UI (remember having to keep an item slot open in your inventory just to carry around your pet?)
  • Vet Rank Removal
  • Champion Point System
  • Compensating CP for Vet-Ranked Characters
  • Stellar DLC content
  • CONSISTENT DLC schedule
  • PVP Town Capture
  • Stam rebalance (obviously still in flux, but I can at least wield a sword without dragging down my entire group)
  • Stam-based class abilities
  • Trials and now Trial Scaling
  • Trial Rebalancing (anyone remember the ubiquitous Stack And Burn Strategy that worked for everything forever?)
  • Veteran versions of dungeons
  • Undaunted pledges/monster set introductions (even if I can't wear them right now due to clashing aesthetics)

THINGS COMING
  • Level Scaling in every zone (this was a complete pipe dream for me, I'm still in awe that they're actually doing it)
  • Cross-Alliance PvE (same as above, this is ducking magical)
  • World Boss revamps
  • Lore-friendly holiday events


Okay, that's a little better. Don't get me wrong, the lockboxes are still a cancer that needs to be excised, but they're allowed to have the occasional bad idea in light of all of the above.

    SWG did a boat-load of things right too. Housing, 32 professions- mixed and matched, large open worlds, etc etc etc. It's just as closed as if they didn't have those things.

    TOR did story, cut scenes, voice overs. It's down to about 2 servers.

    I could go thru all the great features in a boat-load of games and all it takes is 1 large mistake and all those great points simply doesn't matter any longer. Proff? Take a good look at the NGE.
