For me personally as a loyal AD citizen:

Auridon, back to my roots as High Elf, for some reason the weather there is always nice and the environment looks so 'magical'

Alikr Desert: love the open sights there, in RP its a nice place to dream away and remanice about random ingame stuff

The Rift, easily my favourite EP zone. Eastmarch is good too

Though I belong to EP, my Altmer char would be more than happy to have a house in Auridon too :-) The other choices (for another houses if possible) include The Rift, Deshaan, Stonefalls (yet depends on the location) and either Malabal Tor or Grahtwood (if with a great view of Elden Root...). I don't like DC zones that much.

My 12 characters would utter quite different opinions about the matter, if asked where they would eventually want to live at. A lot would just say, well, we haven't seen most of it yet, so how could we possibly know, so let's first have a look and do some sightseeing and then we will eventually have a clue - others will say, home is where I am now, why would I even want to live somewhere else - and a few would not want to decide on just one home, but would like to have several in different places.

You see, with a bunch of characters like this, it is hard to give a definitive answer

Edit: I, as a player, would want a semi-desert location or Hew's Bane, some of my characters could agree with that, but others have gotten used to where they live at and especially my Argonian let me know, that he is tired of AD and really wants to get out of there. He dreams of living on one of the Arcadian Islands in the south of Vvardenfell - well, we will see, I as a player would have been happy with just a tent, a guard and a belly dancer for my entertainment, but my characters do not seem to settle for moderate, they dream about more luxurious estates.

Coldharbour, it's a refreshing place, fresh water, no annoying Nord drunkards, pretty calm, except perhaps for a few soul shriven getting sacrificed. Hopefully comes with a necromancy kit, a pile of corpses, a spooky castle, spider webs, bats and vampire cattle.

Also a torture room, prison and such. And a laboratory! And a throne room! And... And...!

I was walking around Malabal Tor the other day, up near the Baandari Trading Post. I think I found my house. I would want to explore it first, but it is in a pretty place, close to a Wayshrine/Kiosks and seems just about perfect.

I have not found many houses yet, mostly from videos of other people finding them. So, not sure if this is the place I will settle or not. But it will be tough to top.

As far as Faction being a concern about where I live, that is not even on the list of considerations.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

For my Khajiit, where else but Elsweyr! She yearns to return home and see the vast seas of sand and grass of the north once more. A simple, small and modestly furnished abode would be just fine. And yes, i'm presuming (hoping) that we might get to see Elsweyr at some point...

As for my grumpy old Breton, he likes the remote areas of Wrothgar, the place of his birth, but is fascinated by the deep forests of Valenwood and the creatures and plants within. A canvas tent that he could pack up and take with him as he travelled would be his preference.

My Orsimer travels from place to place, living wherever she can find a bed, a barn or a shelter. In my mind, she works and lives in the forges scattered across Tamriel.

As for me - the temptation to wander from place to place would be too hard to resist.

My main crafter will eventually retire to Hallin's Stand to make:

    Curved. Swords.

The house near Hallin's Stand seems perfect at the moment ... unless ZOS decides to build a larger one near Leki's Blade or another Bangkorai, Alik'r, or Craglorn location.

I like the Gold Coast - would love a roman style house with a courtyard in the middle, or one with columns at the front, especially for my Imperial main. I like The Rift too. But each alt would have their own preference.

If I could only choose one, then Rivenspire. Some nice fishing spots, plenty of room to roam, some nice scenic views, just feels like home.

Might want to reconsider then, friend.

The Rift and Rivenspire remind me most of home, but Greenshade and The Gold Coast would also be fine. Maybe upper Bangkorai, or Shadowfen.

Glenumbra. Because it is modern but historical, it is full of forests but has its towns as well, windy and rainy, but the sun shines beautifull, has some dangerous people and awesome nature, but evil vines and friendly folks also, it has the most liked normal and veteran dungeon for me, it was my first experuenced 'big zone' from the beta, it has a really enthusiastic town (Daggerfall, from whom the alliance got its name), because we all know who was the hero, who saved the life of King Casimir (:)), and we know what our elders saying in the bank ;), we met the daedra here for first, we found out in the 'Bad Man's' how public dungeons work etc. :)

In the far north of Rivenspire there is a secluded lighthouse called Westwind that's situated beside the coast with it's own remote island, This is where I would like to live.
