I still don't understand what's wrong with raising the cap. It's a very normal occurance in any MMO that releases new content.
It also is beneficial for the economy, makes crafting and harvesting alive and desirable again as the demand for materials and items increases and also makes people re-evaluate their builds and gear. Staying at the same level for such a long period of time makes the economy stagnant and just plain boring in general, as everybody already has obtained everything they need and except for a few alts and some new players (both which are very situational occurrences) there is no demand for almost anything crafted, minus the potions and foods/glyphs.
While I understand people don't want their hard-earned gear become absolute (heck it would hit me hard as I have dozens of gold sets and weapons/jewelry for numerous alts), it is generally beneficial in the bigger picture, it creates gold sinks, shakes up the economy a bit and gets things moving forward.
When IC was launched, economy exploded, everyone wanted and needed new materials, gears, sets in large quantities, it felt like there was an actual market. But ever since Orsinium, market has been stagnant and never changing.
TL;DR Cap increase - good for the economy - bad for lazy people.

Golding up a whole set to think that set will need replaced would annoy me , considering the time it takes to get mats , temps, wax etc.

Have you played any other MMO before? This is typically what happens in most MMOs... you grind for gear, get the best you can, and a couple months later the the next DLC is released and better gear is offered, so you grind for your next set of gear. Without some type of 'incentive' or something to work for, many players get bored and leave. Gear grind is one thing that most MMO players are accustomed to and look forward to- a sense of working towards something. With ESO as it is now, for PvE questers, the only thing you have to look forward to after you max gear, is another quest... and another quest... and another quest. That's all good except after awhile you being to lose any sense of actual accomplishment... what am I working for here? At least with gear grinding, I can be saving money for mats, or grinding crafting nodes, etc. WHILE questing.
Just notice this MMORPG article and ZOS states, when asked about what happens if they change max level from CP160, "We have a plan for how to address this and our goal is to make sure this content doesn’t become obsolete. More details on that when/if we decide to raise the gear cap. (Note – it won’t be anytime soon)"

If lazy is not wanting to pay 14.99/month to run on a hamster wheel, then yeah call me lazy...cuz that's exactly what the gear progression is. All it is....is a time sink that works great in subscription model MMOs to keep mindless hamsters on that wheel, giving them something to do until the next gear tier increase. If you find that fun, then your brain is the size of a pea.
Who not focus on content progression instead(leaderboards, campaign perks, etc)?

I played every major title mmo. There's a good reason a lot of us are playing ESO, and the lack of a consistent gear grind is one of them. Look how fabulous Star War Galaxies was and it did not have a gear grind. The upwards gear spiral is an old, cookie cutter system and I am glad there's an MMO out there that doesn't do it.
I want to spend my time doing something with the equipment I own (like cyrodiil), not spending all my time trying to acquire it.
