There is a transparent side box. This is if you open the menu to view it full screen.

It's amazing on X1, as well. You can type from any Windows 10 device. I was really worried I might have to buy a USB keyboard.

Hate being @ work so I gotta ask @JudahXBL. You said any windows 10 device. So I can use my phone & smartglass instead of a keyboard?

Yeah, since they're using XBL's text system to do it, that's accurate. I'm using my PC, but any W10 device or device wth SmartGlass should work

I'm happy that it's added but I'm kinda bummed that you can't move or do anything while typing, I was expecting this to be something you could do with one hand while still playing with the other. Having it not let you move at all while typing makes it a hell of a lot less useful, to an extent that cannot be overstated. Am I missing some options somewhere?

There's lots of things you can do with one hand if you've got the dexterity, and being deprived of one hand is the minimum you'd expect to have to deal with while typing. Not even letting us do that and forcing us to stand utterly motionless renders this function next to useless in any form of combat, PvE or PvP.

And where are the options to change channels? Where the options period? All there seems to be is size, profanity and the on/off switch, that's some pretty lackluster design if that's all the options we have. Surely I must be missing something and there's a whole bunch of customization options, but right now I can't even get the chat to only be guild chat like my voice chat,

Wow okay my post got cut off randomly and didn't include the last bit, that was messed up, re-finishing now:

I've only been playing for a few minutes and already the zone chat has me wanting to never use this again with the constant spam of trading and idiotic chatter. Not being able to set channels for text chat as being on/off however you want is an absolute deal-breaker for me and will mean I will almost never use it, which is a shame because I was expecting to never turn it off. But basic functionality is required and right now this is utterly without any.

Someone please tell me the options are there and I'm just missing them somehow, because if not this is some downright shoddy design if ever I've seen it. TVs and Radios (and, you know, this very game) have had channels for a very long time now, it's not exactly a new notion that requires explaining about why it's necessary, so how is it possible for us to not have it? That's as basic an option as options get, and unless it's been hidden very well it's not there.

Nope, that's channels for you to talk to other people, has no effect on other people talking, which you will see no matter what you do to stop it besides turning off the text chat altogether.

I always knew, text chat would be awesome on PS4..

This has to be the best thing to happen to ESO on consoles since Launch, Very happy they finally listened and implemented this. Thank you ZOS.

I wish it could block out zone chat so you only see guild chat.

They did say this was a work in progress. So let's hope this is just the start.

I wish Dungeon Finder developers can learn something from them..

They could just make it so that when you tapped a spacebar or tapped the enter key, it would pop up a window or the window could be stationary at the bottom left hand side of the screen.
