I don't think that this set's final bonus is particularly useful. Maybe a Werewolf tank (susceptibility to poison) whose also using Beckoning Steel (I think this one causes you to intercept projectiles directed at your allies)
and slotting one of the guard morphs (if the damage your tethered comrade takes counts as a crit on you). It's just not particularly
likely that you will take enough consecutive crits for this bonus to campare with other sets that proc weapon damage. For this to
be useful it would need to be cut down to 6 crits taken in a stack with the damage and the increase to weapon damage for each crit
would needed to be proportionally increased to around 100 Weapon damage per crit.

I did it with a HA NB and there were no changes while the shield was up. Nevertheles it was during DB patch, IDK if they changed it. I wanted an argonian Hulk, but the costs in vigor made me change my mind, so I tried the shields to decrease healing costs, but then I had no power.

I suppose it is OK,because the set and the HA passive getting strenght despite no getting dmg is to OP IMHO

Have that kind of set up but changed it back to put the WW ultimate on my 2H bar.
Why ? Because in small scale people tend to flee hence no 5pc proc.
In large scale your are pretty fast dead cause there is a "hey come kill me" sign each to time you transform, as you may know

It is shining though with a pocket healer playing with you and claws of anguish, for example in keep defense when inside.
Then you have the full strength of the set, especially if healer is a templar that can give you stamina back.

You tried against another player of course ?
For your hulk however, vigor may and should work with the set.

I used vigor but the res management was a problem in HA. Maybe Malubeth was an option, though I refuse to use it till it is fixed (damned ethics).

Apart from that, to build wpn dmg through crits is not as easy as through the wrath passive. 30 extra wpn dmg for 6 secs is not that much. Maybe during 20 secs is something.

How those mechanics work, is the effect stacks, and when you are hit the timer resets. So as long as you're hit every 6 secs your weapon damage will only keep going higher.

I'm also fairly sure, if a ward absorbs all damage from an attack, you do not activate any, "hit" bonuses.

A critical strike can occur on a shield for proc processes for the attacker only I believe (aka triggering crit surge while having an attack fully absorbed by a shield.)
