Maintenance for the week of April 6:

Make it possible to "disagree" on something.

There is this option. It's called, make a comment that says I disagree and why. Unlike the agree button a disagree button adds nothing to the conversation. An agree button keeps people from posting 1 word answers over and over.
If you have told some you disagreed with something they said and didn't tell them why, your probably not very bright.

But agreeing with somebody without an explanation is considered smart ? (example opposite of bright)

He's referring to posts that say things like "/signed" or "me too!". You've never searched for a solution to a bug in a game and found a lot of "me too!" threads?

In every forum I participated on that had a system like this, "disagree" and "lol" were eventually removed. At least we still have "insightful" here.

It is always the same. People "disagree-bombing" some other people, the second group being super worried with internet points or whatnot and complaining, drama happening, mods removing the button. With the lol button, it is because people get upset when they make a serious post and other people use the lol button. Drama ensues all the same.

In one of the forums I participated on that had a system like this, there was a way of seeing who clicked each button using a loophole in the forum's coding. The drama went on and on for weeks. Friendships were ruined. People were banned. It was beautiful.

What is strange to me is that if you are going to have the buttons, you should be able to see who ised them. If you cant it makes it pointless. Well other then the normal forum trolls entertaining themselves with them. No not me. I meant someone else, not me.

Heh, the problem is that, on that forum, it was supposed to not be visible, so people went and disagreed away to their heart's content. But some people used that loophole and went on naming and shaming the "disagree-ers". To me, that Michael Jackson popcorn gif had never been so appropriate. I still laugh when I think about those few days.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

If you agree with someone, that means you share their opinion, which basically means there's nothing left to add.

If you disagree with someone, however, there are various different ways in which your opinion can vary, and explaining it actually helps building a constructive discussion.

Why? For example some writes a revert the champion point changes! Thread. I disagree... What is there to add? They are the one that wants a change. What ever they wrote failed to convince me.

Even if i did write something, usually disagreeing with people and writing your opinion just ends up with someone from the other side coming in and calling You not very bright....

If you make a thread solely for the sake of farming forum points, prepare to be moderated. Beyond that no one really abuses the current buttons as they are all generally positive in nature.

They refuse to do things like that because everyone is afraid of a lawsuit if they're not shown to be in support of a pseudo-polite society built on lies. So everything has to look politically correct, and ignore the fact that negativity still exist, otherwise someone's precious feelings might get hurt.

"LOL" needed to be removed most likely because it told the developers nothing about how to make the game better. It was just an easy way for a member to get a few points to their account via telling a really good joke or being the joke to everyone that found them worthy of disrespect.

Nevertheless, I agree, there should be a "disagree" option.

Myself and the Op pointed out all the buttons are just as easy to abuse. So why is just disagree gone.

To which you responded... Trolls which still doesnt make sense, and the other buttons are positive so no one cares if they are abused.

That last part is the important part. You said disagree cant be a thing because it is to easy to abuse. Then say all the buttons are easy to abuse, but they are positive so no one cares. You disprove your own theory.

The only reason disagree isnt here, is not because it is easy to abuse. They all are. You said it. It isnt here because it upsets people when they get disagreed. It makes them angry or sad or lots of negative things.

I guess my next question would be, you said people dont care about the others being abused because they are positive. Why is me disagreeing with someone seen as negative?

Disagree is a NEGATIVE reaction by nature and easy for trolls to abuse. The forum has trolls, so it WILL get abused. According to a previous post in this thread, it WAS abused when around, and so was LOL which can be taken positively or negatively.

Agree, Insightful, and Awesome are all POSITIVE reactions by nature and not-so-easy to abuse. Anyone that tries gets moderated for it because they are essentially farming forum points. The majority of the forum community barely cares about forum point accumulation, so it is NOT abused, and proof is everywhere. Just because every once in a blue moon someone decides to give every post in a thread a reaction for kicks doesn't mean it's abused.

I cannot make it any clearer than this. If you STILL don't get it then tough cookies.

P.S. My responses here are in regards to the BUTTONS alone, not actual disagreement in posting.
