Which is why I suggested making two morphs. One for people who want to keep mashing the button and those who rather not keep hurting their fingers.

I know the wards were a bit OP, but being required to press a single key every six or eight seconds is a bit much and tedious. Why even have the skill if it requires carpel tunnel?
I'd be willing to have a morph with half the strength with double the time.
Or better yet make one morph 20 seconds but be proportionally weakened. Even if it still requires me to press the button every 5 to 6 seconds because the wards are so weak, I'd still be pressing it less every time the 6 second cycle time goes through.
Keep a morph with the 6 or 8 second at full strength for those with the wherewithal to keep pressing it like a rat in a skinner box.

and 10 seconds for Empowered Ward (at Rank IV)

And by "terrible" I don't know if you mean by default or skill, because yeah in theory mag sorcs should be worse than any stam build out there atm, but skill will always come out on top, and from what I see the only sorcs that are left, are skilled.

No, I mean it. And I mean terrible skill-wise, because it is far harder to play a Magicka Sorc now than ever before. If you aren't extremely familiar with the class and shielding at the right time, chances are you won't do very well.
When I say a Magicka Sorc is strong, I'm not talking about a Sorc who can kill another typical CP501 player without help once in awhile. I mean a Sorc who can run around and 1vX like the nerfs never happened. Those Sorcs are extremely rare. Only a handful of Magicka Sorcs have put up a fight anymore against me because the nerfs to shields/sustain made this class spec so much tougher to play.
Nowadays when I fight a group of players, the first enemy I tend to target is either a cocky Nightblade or a Magicka Sorc. Magicka Sorcs only threaten me in 1vX when they start pulling out the Overload. That's when they have to die before Nightblades.
9/10 would be an understatement actually. May be closer to 19/20 tbh. From what I've seen in Dark Brotherhood, almost all of the Magicka Sorcs serve as free AP.
My favorite is when I run far away from an enemy zerg, and the Magicka Sorcs chase me down because they can also Bolt Escape. When I get far enough, and their zerg support is ~10-15 seconds off, I slaughter them because they are so used to having long shield durations than they don't bother to recast. Makes all Magicka Sorcs look pitiful
But yeah, those Sorcs who stuck with being Magicka-based in PvP are absolutely not all skilled. Not even close. They are stuck in their old ways, hoping to be as strong as those Magicka Sorcs who carry on 1vXing despite the nerfs.

It pains me to agree with you. You won't find the really good sorcs in a Zerg though. They're solo, trying to pick a fight at a keep or sitting on a resource they just flagged, waiting for enemies to show.
The recasting of the shields, it gives about 4.5 seconds left if you don't cancel it JUST right. Time a CC and burst them dead. Six seconds hardened ward is too short, but I agree twenty was too long. The right answer should have been about eight on the Hardened morph.

Essentially Zos wants us to decide to play offensive or defensive but the old duration of the magika shields permitted both easily. It's a fair trade off.
No shields currently are garbage I still get 2 or 3 shot with full shields and that 6 second shield duration us just dumb.
