I know the lag in pvp is a beaten horse.
But i have never had the problems i have now. For the last 2 days every time i go near an enemy group of people if the campaign shows more then 2 strips in population, it instant go from around 60 fps to 1-0 and freeze. If i just wait until the battle is over and survive my fps go back to normal.

Anyone els experience this?

There's a memory leak in the game causing the issue. Reloading UI has helped me in the past as well as relogging.

Before last update I didn't have any issues with FPS, now I'm getting constant slideshows, crashes and ping skyrockets to heavens.

For whatever reason in this update my latency seems to be pretty stable around 100-400, yet now I get ridiculous 1-10 FPS in any kind of large battle. Note that the 100-400 ping feels more like 999+ though.

Agree. I had 120 ping today which in any other game would be playable, but in this game absolutely not...

Is it specifically when multiple enemies attack you at once that it drops below 1 fps?

This happens in my case, as my CPU is weak and struggling to process the multiple attacks on me. It freezes for a few seconds and then all I can do is wait and hope that I'm still alive afterward.

The best way to reduce this issue for me has been to avoid high pop campaign at primetime, go to Imperial City or play during off-peak hours, or low pop campaign. Otherwise, on high pop campaign (Trueflame), I try to avoid the large keep battles and stick to ganking in areas away from keeps.

Optimization died in a hole since the removal of DIrect X 9 support.

Just so you know where to direct your hate to. That one specific change, made this problem so much worse.

That happened to me right after the log in/maintenance event over the weekend. I reached 0fps and 9999+ping. I checked my network usage and it was nearly 1mb/s while memory, cpu, SSD, and GPU had plenty of headroom. It has since resolved it itself unless it had to do with my draw distance which I lowered significantly to around 8.

Outside of PvP I noticed everything took an extraoridnary amount of time to load. For instance when I ran out of deshaan and ran back in toward the gold pledge quest giver I would have to wait 20seconds for the guy to load into the world. Other times the entire city of Deshaan wouldn't even load in, it was just a grass crater. The whole time CPU/SSD/GPU/Memory untaxed with lots of head room. *CPU had plenty of head room on every core.

Prior to the Saturday log in/maintenance problem I have never reached 0fps, not even during Lighting Patch Gate. Strangely I'm running fine again.

Again. For me I noticed this right when the servers came back up after the log in/maintenance issue over the weekend. The patch came the following Monday.
