dungeon finder breaks mostly during busy times of the day...

odd and maybe even insane theory but maybe theres a max number of dungeon instances that can be open at any one time? would explain why lower pop times make queues work

Tank rarely waits
Healer will have to wait for a tank to queue.
Damage dealers will have to wait and wait and wait until enough tanks and healers queue so that the damage dealer is next in line for a group.0 -

Exactly. Except for the healers and tanks that post saying they were in a queue for 4 hours with no group. Or the people who have posted saying they tested it with 3 other people filling all the roles. And still no group after an hour.
There is something wrong with the group finder no matter how many times people post, it is just your role.

I doubt it's caused by there being a maximum amount of dungeons, I'm able to group with friends at prime time and get into dungeons no problem. It looks like the backend degrades exponentially under load, once enough people try to queue the wait time shoots up into multiple hours and no one gets a group.@wayfarerx - PC / North America / Aldmeri Dominion1 -

✭This seems unlikely as the typically accepted fix for this broken finder is get a pve guild, make some friends and que with a preformed group. That seems more likely.
For those who doubt it's current broken state I offer this simple test.
Have 4 people que one heal, one tank, 2 dps if it ques it is functioning, if not it is not.
Do this test at different times to check if population effects such results.
My conclusions of this test are as follows.
If done am est que pops within 10 mins, slow doesn't seem to be working as intended.
If done pm prime time ques do not pop, doesn't seem to be working at all.
I have done this test multiple times and I encourage others doubting it's functionality do the same.
My tests are done on ps4 NA.0 -
Stiltz✭✭✭It's true on PS4 NA. The random dungeon finder only works at certain times of day and is usually completely out of service in the late afternoon/evening until around 2-3am pacific time. It's been like this since DB and some days are better than others.
I que healer/dps for vet dungeons and tank/healer/dps for normal. It makes absolutely no difference during the time that the group finder isn't working what you que as. It will not work no matter how long you wait, but in the morning it usually takes < 1 minute even as dps.0 -
spencer2361✭✭✭Always works great for me in the morning when it's not busy, dps or healer group within minutes, in the evening during prime time, never get a group for either role, if you ask me it certainly does depend on population0

False, you need to just stop please..
Role has nothing to do with the wait times being complety *** botched.
With a working tool, DD waits longs, sometimes near 39 minutes. Tanks get a queue a minute or 2. Healers usually get a que no more than 5 minutes.
We do not have a working tool. This is not an opinion. Waiting 4 hours plus as a tank or healer is what we have now.
As for the early parts of the day theory, DB update on ps4 and console both, I can confirm there is something strange going on under the hood that suggests the early day assumption is true.
I throughly tested this. The the early am, I would look at the group finder and notice under role, it displayed an estimated wait time, granted they were wildly innaccurate ie. Est wait for healer showed 40 minutes but I would get a que in under 3. However in the later parts of the evenings I noticed that the est wait times under role selection all but vanish, there is simply nothing that is displayed at all. During these times the group finder is effectively dead in the water resulting in multiple hour wait times with no luck l on both tank and heals in solo or up to 3 players. With a premade the queue is instant.
That was DB.. since hist, group finder does not want to work no matter what time of day it is.0
