Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Am I just nooby and blind, or is there no preview option for each of the new hairstyles in the game?

I was checking out my new toon (switched from highelf stam dk (did not know altmer were mag at start... ) to redguard stam dk) and was thinking of buying her a really long long hair and dye it red or purple or bright green in the new style parlor aka barbershop....but I am looking, searching, can not find any preview option.

Please fellow players or ZOS, advice me how to do that :)

thank you :)

Well, careful, because those are not new hairstyles - that bundle is all old hairstyles, which existed already when you created your character, in a bundle so that you can change them at will from the collection panel.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. You buy many hairsytles in the crown store. They come in one pack and there is no preview. Because these hairstyles are the same as in the original character editor and function a bit like wigs.

You can put them on and they copy your characters hair color, which you can only change by buying an appearance change token for 1000 crowns.

You are right, there is no preview option. Not in the crown store, and not from your collections menu once you have purchased the bundle. To see what they look like you have to equip each one, exit the menu, view and spin your toon, go back into the menu, repeat repeat repeat until you find the one you like. It's rather irritating to be honest.

And as somebody above noted, these aren't actually new hairstyles, they are the same ones always available during character creation, but they can now be applied at will.

Nope. I'm just stupid :grimace: (misread the Showcase this month). I swear I saw we were meant to be getting them this month :(

I would already be happy when I would get a nice sassy female haircut - I guess there was one acceptable on the PTS, but I was not myself there, just saw a picture. On the other side, a nice sassy haircut might be harder to get right than long hair.

oh that sounds easy, so many steps, that is nice :):). and btw. why is there no preview option? I buy the hairstyles, not knowing if they fit to my character, awesome job :).

....the preview option is comming in the next updates, right  ?

Well, those are the same hairstyles you have seen for your character in the character creation screen, not more, not less.

Maybe something went wrong with those hairstyles - the new ones I mean - they showed a few off in the live show and now they are not included, that's strange enough. Same with beards, I guess those were as well awaited impatiently by many. And then the notice in the patch notes, that beards will not show whenever one wears a helmet. Funny enough, a mustache seems to be no beard, my imperial still has his even with the helmet on.

The lack of any functionality in this game is hilariously amateur and depressing.
You can't even preview armour styles when crafting.. or preview an armour/weapon you pick up in case you don't want to bind it (à la every single MMO in existence) but want to see it.

So many simple things most low-budget MMOs have and this game doesn't, which would improve his game exponentially.
Boggles the mind what the devs actually do, and whether any of them has actually played a good MMO before.

Don't get me wrong I love the game, but it's lacking in almost of everything that makes an MMO great

Starting with a proper chat box, yes - that one they have is like using a MUD in the 90s and even those were sometimes better. If there is one at all - do consoles have one meanwhile?

What is irritating for me for example is that the order of ingredients on the alchemy table is not consistent - that hinders muscle memory execution and I have to search for stuff - instead to know, I have to find impstool and then take that one 2 entries more down to get ravage stamina - but no, the order is changing and I have to search anytime where it is, not even alphabetically ordered - a random "order" in a way.

But at least with gear this works - it is always one of 3 sequences I can just spool down without to think a lot. Well, until I get a new material that is - happened a couple of times that my fingers did the old sequence and I had the set - but in the wrong material

I agree 100%. I feel like whoever is in charge of design decisions at ZOS has never played an MMO before. Basic quality of life stuff like being able to view the appearance of an item before equipping it, or being able to search for a specific item in the trader UI are completely missing.

+1 to wanting both of these things. The Awesome Guild Store add-on fixes the latter, but I don't now how the people on console manage to cope.

Preview on console is square ps4 or x xb1 "details" it says i believe with the button beside it. Idk about pc. Just check bottom screen below menu when in crown store.

I know costumes can be previewed so id imagine hair style could too.

Doesn't work with the hairstyles. It probably would if they were sold separately, and you could preview them the same way you currently can costumes, personalities, pet and even mounts. But the hairstyles are sold in a single bundle, and there is no preview or details option.

Even after you buy them, you can't preview them. You can't even zoom in on your character's head to see what it looks like after applying. Like a previous poster mentioned, you have to open menu, go to collection > hair styles, apply the one you're curious about, exit the menu, swivel the camera around and view your character's head, then repeat until you find one you like. Can't even just cycle through hair styles like you can in every other MMO. So annoying. :/
