Inventory space when refining

Yoooo.
So I'm one of the no-lifers who's doing some Raw Material farm-runs, and that includes killing various kinds of mobs => Generates a lot of useless things, e.g. shadowhide gear => Full inventory.
After I've gathered materials for a while, I want to refine'm, but my inventory is usually full after that farm run.. Buuut.
I got a Crafting Bag due to ESO+, so why do I still need 4 spaces in my inventory to refine, when they're all crafting materials anyway?
Not a big deal, but still. It just doesn't make any sense 
(Oh, and I'm also one of these scrubs who generally saves a lot of stuff in her inventory; stolen items, 15 different potions etc.).

Olyboi✭I 'think' it is because items go to your inventory by default but certain crafting materials are then instantly moved over to the bag from your inventory.
I may be completely wrong however.1 -

That's possible. If looting mats isn't possible with a full inventory, you're probably right. Either way, there's a 4 free inventory slots failsafe on deconstruction and (I think) refining. These are left over from the pre-crafting bag days. If your inventory is that clogged, go sell your junk items first. That should clear up enough space to start ripping apart items.0 -

Yeh. But the effort of selling items before refining :c
I'm just trying to see the logic in here, but yeh, it makes sense, I guess. That they get placed in your inventory first - and then into the crafting bags.
The Notification "All your crafting items have been moved to your Crafting Bag" pops up if you log out when you got crafting materials in your inventory.
It still doesn't make sense though
But I understand why, I think. But it's just one of these small things that does affect the impression one have of the game :P Ignorance is the greatest weapon of tyranny.

Rather painful right.
