Any add-on changes, for example, should be entirely within that add-ons saved variable file which wouldn't be touched by the game's updaste. ✭✭✭✭✭PC/EU here. Haven't experienced anything like you describe. Maybe your installation is corrupted or some add-on is playing havoc with your settings (unlikely, as I don't think an add-on would have access to them)?3 -

✭Happens to me. Have to move my addon toolbar from center of the screen back to the top, and some of the option on it have to be re-disabled, like how many soul gems are in my inventory, the name of the zone I'm in, experience bar, etc. Have to change the scale of FTC and re-position on screen. Have to move CLS window from top left back to bottom right of screen and tell it not to include heals in the log. Also have to remap zoom camera in and out keys in keymapping.
And I have to do this on every character.

elvenmad✭✭✭✭✭EU PC here, never had any issues at all like this or heard of anyone else either.
But from years of experience with many other games and knowing that when new patches and updates come sometimes some things do get reset so I always keep a copy of the games 'ini,user files' stored for a back up.
These are found in your Documents > Elder Scrolls Online > live (or liveeu for Europe) > Usersettings
Just make a new folder in your Documents and copy paste the file into it make a habit of doing it every few weeks or after updates to keep it up to date,
As for add ons resetting also worth saving is the 'SavedVariables' folder which stores all your add on settings. again copy paste the folder into the new one and you will always have a copy of all your add on settings.< PC - EU >1 -

✭✭✭✭✭I've never had my main system settings reset, but did have some addon settings reset after a 'name change'. This definitely sounds like a corrupt 'Usersettings' file since that is where they store the basic system settings. As @elvenmad just stated, it is a good idea to keep a copy of your "live" folder "Usersettings"... ✭I just assumed this happened to everyone. I've shifted the game from ssd to hdd back to ssd a number of times through periods of being away from the game. Maybe thats messed something up. The my document files have remained where they are the whole time though.0 -
Garldeen✭✭✭✭I get this, very annoying. It's the gaming equivalent of taking one's car to the garage and find they have moved the seat position. Takes ages to get it right again

Well that's the issue. You have to take the file with the settings too which is in a different folder completely.
I play on my PC HD and on an external HD but noticed the file that holds the settings was in a completely different directory than the game files.
Shrug...id locate all files and see. Check elder scrolls folders and Zenimax online folders-PC (PTS)/Xbox One: NewBlacksmurf
