Skill points question

Hi!
I'm soon to reach lvl 50. Is it true that after I can't gain skill points (instead it's CP)?
If so should I try to get as many as I can before 50, or does it really not matter.

This is my first character and I was thinking about getting as many skills as possible to play around with... but I might be over thinking it.

No, you can still get skill points even after lvl 50 by collecting sky shards and completing cadwell's silver and gold.
Since this is your first character, your gonna need alot of skillpoints for crafting.

You don't get any more character points to allocate to magicka/health/stamina. Once you hit 50 you will have all of those unless they raise the cap at some point.

There are many sources of skill points. Skyshards from original zones, plus Cyrodiil, Craglorn, and every DLC. There are also skill points from main quest lines in each allinace, a few from Mages guild, the Harborage main quest, DLC main quests. You get a skill point the first time you complete each group dungeon, both normal and vet mode. Every public dungeon has a group event that gives a skill point. And every PVP rank gets a skill point. As you can see, there are A LOT of skill points available beyond those from character levels.

I'm aware of that, I just wasn't sure if I can get them after lvl 50. I had read somewhere that we didn't.

You just no longer get a skill point for leveling up, you get a champion point instead
