Known Issue: Unusable Templates on PC/Mac NA & EU

After the North American and European PC/Mac megaservers come up today, when you go to the Character Create screen you'll see a drop down menu in the upper-left corner of your screen that appears to contain the same pre-made character templates we offer on the PTS. Though you can select these templates, they are not functional and you will receive an error message if you try to create a character using one of these options. If you'd like to create a new character, please make sure "None" is selected from the drop down menu.

We'll be scheduling a hotfix later this week to remove the unusable templates and avoid any potential confusion.

    Hi Gina since this latest patch maintenance I have had toon/character go slow, ok then slow again, and game crash.
    This was on my main character in Craglorn lag counter was white and around the 220ish area.

    And game crashed not long afterwards sent error report back.

    Am attempting to do some testing however some patches or maintenance can make my game unplayable until it gets fixed at your end.

    Just a courtesy note, in case you were not aware.

    BTW have you or your team ever thought of using a variant of a secure P2P software for updates, DLC's, downloads etc?
    Idea have all users share part or determined ratio of the content for a patch, update, or download this will take some of the strain off the mega servers, may reduce lag as server bandwidth is freed up, also possibility to fix any end users files on the fly if they get corrupted.

    And while you are at it, add a few hairstyles for all and beards for the men - you have them ready, just add them to make us happy again.

    Hey guys,

    Today, we’ll be publishing a hotfix to remove the non-functional templates; this will not require any downtime. However, there will be a short period of time when you’ll be unable to create any new characters, lasting approximately an hour or less. Once the hotfix is complete, you’ll need to log out of the game to download a small patch. When you log back in, the drop down menu will be removed, and you’ll be able to create new characters normally.

    We’ll keep you up to date of the progress in this thread. Thanks!

    Update: The ability to create new characters on PC NA is currently disabled while we apply the hotfix.

    The hotfix is complete on PC NA, and you're free to create new characters again. The hotfix is being applied on PC EU now, and character create on that megaserver is temporarily disabled. Stand by!

    The hotfix is now live on PC EU, and you're welcome to create new characters once again. Just a reminder that you will need to log out to download a small patch (~50MB) in order for this change to take effect.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno - Is there any news about the issues some of us faced after the hotfix yesterday wrt buffs (mundus buffs, major savagery or whatever it is from biting jabs are the ones I noticed) being removed on changing zones or not working?

    Hmm, that's the first I'm hearing about it. Is there another thread discussing the issue?
