Heist Quests Are Super Buggy

Others have already mentioned that heist quests often rely largely on random chance (ie. whether the objectives happen to spawn in locations that are easy for you to get to), or that they can be impossible to do stealthily depending on some very poor choices in guard pathing (example: guards with detection auras simply sitting in one place without ever moving, making it impossible to get past them without being detected).

I haven't seen much about how flat-out buggy they are in terms of the objectives, though, and frankly it's starting to get on my nerves.

I can't count the number of times I've had to abandon heist quests and start over because of objectives not updating properly. Just now I had one heist quest where the objective was to recover 3 hidden caches. Well, after getting 5 of them (of course these are the ones where you have to pick the locks, so combine this with evading guards and you're starting to run really low on time) and the quest still saying I'm only at 2 (those 2 being the first 2), I abandoned the heist to try it again.

This time it correctly updated the quest log with each hidden cache that I recovered, and when I had grabbed 3 with plenty of time to get back and turn in the heist. Wrong. When I got back to the entrance to the heist location there was no objective for me to complete. It was impossible to turn in the quest, and the timer was still ticking down. I tried going back to the thieves guild, and when I got there I saw a quest marker so I thought "OK, I guess this time for some reason it wanted me to actually come back to the guild in order to complete the quest in time" but no, the quest marker was just for Fa'ren-dar to take me back to the heist location, where I could do... absolutely nothing.

I'm getting sick of these bugs in the heists.

Oh, and the traps are super buggy too - about 2/3 of the time when you go to disarm them it works, and the rest of the time the trap goes off. You're better off just going around the traps if possible rather than trying to disarm them.

This game is not made for stealth, there's no incentive in doing heists, even less doing them with someone else (so yep, another solo broken content that is not worth doing).

You can't distract guards, you can't do anything but wait for them to move away and going to take your objective...they are so boring and look really cheap

Did you try to TP out of there? I did that and had to do it again. You have to escape the entire area to find where he is waiting for you.
As to those Heist quests,I have a problem with the times too.Since half the time you cant get through the dungeon without killing at least two enemies, the timer whacks off your time. We should be able to just do the thing either without being detected,or having been detected, carry on.
Yes,we can finish it,but every day the same one keeps coming up.I wonder if you have to beat the timer to get to another heist.

Timer can be beaten quite easily, especially if you craft invisibility potions...but guess what?
Invisibility goes away when you are detected and the same goes for opening chests, since you are detected for the time it takes to unlock them :'D
The whole heist system is just a wait-and-run mechanic with no tactic at all, it would've be nice to have a group member distracting the guards (do you remember throwing the rotten tomato during the first TG quest? it will never happen, great idea that ZoS ignored like 99% of other good things :'D) while you stun them (without alerting or triggering any malus).

Instead it's the opposite, playing with a friend is just bad because they can trigger the alarm when you are distant but they cannot take the treasure with you (you have to stay close...so it's the same of playing alone), things can only go worse when playing heists with a friend, such a shame :(

Oh I got back to where he was waiting for me just fine, it's just that there was no objective for me to complete. The only thing showing up in my quest journal/tracker was "Optional: complete the heist before the timer is up" or whatever the text for the optional component was.

And on my Khajiit nightblade with stealth gear, I never have any trouble with the timer per se, just with bugs where objectives won't update, or traps go off instead of disarming, or with cases where there's literally no way to get past a guard in stealth.

it is instanced but if you are in a group and share the quest you can do with someone else
but as I said you gain nothing, it's just more chances to alert guards :'D so it's useless, it's a solo content

Interesting. Does the quest sharing mean that you can do more than one heist per day on a given character?

They're like Whorthgar bosses. You can take only one quest per day on the board, but people in your group can share another one.

I've been doing heists since day one. The first day I tried alone, then with a guildmate.
And it was so much fun ! ^^
Now, we're doing with a group of four. We sometimes have to abandon/retake the quest, but as far as today, we've done all the heist within the timer limit.

Though yeah, for one of them (the Deadhallows with the Maulborn ennemies), it took us maybe one hour of observing and trying, to know exactly when to hide from a guard, rush behind him even with his magelight, hide and seek around boxes... This one is definitely my favorite, even if it is the hardest ^_^
What? Lead? Me? No, no, no. No leading. Bad things happen when I lead. We get lost, people die, and the next thing you know I’m stranded somewhere without any pants.

I'm guessing you got the heist that requires you to find a special treasure IN ADDITION to the 3 hidden caches. Those are separate objectives, and the quest log is written in a way that can be misleading.

I've experienced invisible traps, clairvoyant guards that are impossible to evade because of the way their routes are designed, but I've never had a problem with heist objectives not updating. If that was in fact the case, add it to the list of bugs :)

That's the one, but the 2nd time I did the quest the additional special treasure never showed up in my objectives after I got the 3 hidden caches (the 1st time it was the hidden caches that weren't updating in my objectives). The 3rd time (after having had to abandon the quest twice due to objectives not updating) it worked properly.

You should send in a ticket.I had no problem. The other bits of text you mentioned are just that you turn in the quest anyway.
I have had no problem finishing it,same one,but I get only 332 in gold, rather than some kind of other reward.

Just tried sharing with a guild mate of mine. We both got into dungeon, his timer was different from mine, and completing quest objectives didn't share points. So it wasn't any different than running solo, except 2x the possibility of getting caught.

Are you supposed to be able to share the quest? And group accomplish? Seems like you should since the text describes something about "your crew" doing the heist.

Also the fact that Clairvoyance Rings don't show up if an NPC is slightly above the ground you are on, such as walking down stairs or on Wooden Platforms a tiny bit above some water where they detect you and you cannot even see the Blue Circles that are doing it.

I totally hate the heists, and after going through all the aggravation of doing it, I have to admit my 'favourite' part is being given garbage in a purple sack. It's just totally the best! ***sarcasm***. I just completed a quest within the time limit and got 5 white 'Perfect Metonome' and 5 white 'Simple Stitching Awl'. Totally makes it worthwhile, doesn't it? And what is the drop rates on the motifs, 0.0001? I have never received such garbage in a game, especially for doing challenging things like the heists, molag bal in the imperial city, and sometimes the bosses in the undaunted challenges. If people are willing to spend the time and effort to go through them, the least the game can do is drop something decent!
