An idea to combat Cyrodiil keep exploiters!

This weekend I have watched the same people over and over again leap (ie Take Flight.. ETC) into keeps before the walls are even down (long before) and it gets really tiresome to see these people cheat to give their side an unfair advantage (I am also sure my side does it as well.... shame on them!!) but it does not seem like ZOS is going to fix the skills that are allowing this to happen so my idea is to just really really buff the guards and add more until the walls come down. So it the walls are up the there are twice as many guards and they are 5x stronger with lots of AOE.. once the walls are down the guards go back to normal.

Just my two cents on how to combat the exploiters in PvP who refuse to play fair!!

Hammy!!

The idea is to report them. Keep Wall jumping is an exploit and a bannable offense. If you see them doing it then take the proof straight to Zenimax!

Bandaid the exploiters, not the exploit!

How do you get proof in 1fps, and when you're not recording 24/7?

I've seen cheaters ive KNOWN ive reported for cheating continue cheating the same week... ZOS does nothing about cheaters but will ban people for minor infractions.

A fix is simple and just needs to be handled programmatically.

Any individual grounded on a keep, tower, outpost, etc shouldn't be a valid target using gap closing abilities. They could even add a couple second delay for mechanics like jumping. All non-gap closing abilities would still work. It's incredibly simple and the fact that the devs haven't fixed it is beyond pathetic.

If you can manage to get proof and report them multiple times they will get punished for sure. First offense they give the player a warning, second offense a temporary ban, and third is they're gone. Keep reporting them every time you catch them in the act and that permaban will be on the way!

The problem is.. getting the proof. How am I going to prove to ZOS that there were no walls down at the time they leaped up there to slaughter unsuspecting opposing factions. Not to mention that the people doing this are not scrubs that can maybe get one kill but in a small group that can completely wipe out a raid.. a raid that is focused on playing the game the way it was meant to be played.

Anyways.. it is up to ZOS to fix this problem and I believe making the guards one shot players that exploit keeps is the way to go.. and give them a hefty repair bill to go along with it... filthy cheaters!!!!

Leap like gap closers barely works anymore. Small inclines in open fields can cause it to fail to go off. Leap CANNOT leap onto keep walls anymore. It CAN leap onto keeps in the exact same spot where gap closers can now gap close up to keep walls. Once they fix what ever they broke with gap closers leap will likely not work in those areas too.

Well on PS4 you can use the share button to take a screenshot but not sure what XB1 uses. If you can manage to take a screenshot though of the precise moment they leap up into a keep they are busted. To aid in this, make sure the nameplates display their names.

Yeah I am not 100% sure what skill is being used but it is DK's and NB's I see do it over and over again with biggest exploiters being DK's.. thus I called out Take Flight.

Lollll... if it were that easy!! In order for them to get banned I would need to take a screenshot at the exact time the leaped into the keep (provided I even know when and where they will try) but I need to have cat like reflexes and my timing has to be perfect to make sure I capture their nameplate!! Yeah I would probably have a better chance at taming a wild Unicorn :).

You can set the nameplates so their names are displayed over their head (or health bar if that is showing) at all times, provided you are close enough to see their info. Pretty sure it's about 40 meters before u start seeing that stuff?

Gap closers seem pretty broken at the moment. I used Invasion to hit an enemy player that was up on some rocks to the north of Bleakers outpost & I shot up vertically, easily higher than Bleakers, then went sideways into the rock. I killed the enemy with jabs but then I was stuck inside the rock :( Had to use /stuck & pay to get to the wayshrine.

In a delve I used invasion on an NPC that was down a slope & went through the roof of the delve & was stuck there.I could see my buddies progressing through the delve but couldn't get to them. Had to use /stuck & pay to get to the wayshrine.

ON the flip side... my Blinding Javelin absolutely WILL NOT fire upwards anymore !@#! I can shoot it at enemies on the same level as me... but I can't shoot it at an enemy that is standing on a rock or on a keep wall. So annoying as it's my only missile attack.

If they would only allow character of the same faction in 1 campaign.

For instance, if you have 3 EP in Azura's, you shouldn't be able to stall your AD character in that same campaign. Would fix sooo much trouble and cheating.

    Yes, But and No:

Yes: it is a bannable offense and we should within reason do what we can to gather proof and report to ZOS

But: it cannot be so that we, players have the burden, the responsibility to get these people arrested. What we do can only be a temp quick fix.

No: In most western countries leaving an entrance wide open of your house is as much an illegal act for the house owner as for the burglar that exploits it. The legal argument being: it is illegal to tempt somebody to an illegal act.
Whereby the difficulty to prevent and the period of time of the temptation plays a role in the judgment of the court.

So.. with all due respect to the possibly very complex issue that ZOS has to solve, causing time delay:
ZOS must take care of it.

Double tap the home button - the big glowing X - and the option to record previous number of minutes is shown. Choose number of minutes in the settings. I suggest setting of 3 minutes, to account for any system delay in activating that command.

Or, I got the chat pad. On that there are X1 and X2 buttons that act as the hotkey for screenshot or recording. They activate quickly enough that I run with the default being 1 minute recordings.

IF ZOS would strenghten the guards, to make leaping on the walls less appealing because you get more easily killed by those guards,
then ZOS would make implicitly leaping a valid course of action and sanction leaping.

If ZOS wants to integrate wall leaping in the combat, AND give all classes a leaping ability (in Alliance War tree), then strenghtening the guards could be done as well.
And sieging has more diversity of combat than now.

But if leaping stays an exploit, I think it must be stopped 100%.

Just make it so keep guards enrage like the flesh atros in ICP do. (all of a sudden goes from doing nothing to 100K dmg a hit...but instantly if the inner wall/outer wall isn't down depending where the exploiters are)

Being instakilled and metaphorically t-bagged by the Guards would stop it.

This would also have to make the attackers think more, I mean...way too many times do the defenders repair the outer wall behind the attackers because they are going full drooler.

    Its sad to watch tbh.

There is a problem with this, since there is a legitimate way of being inside a keep. Some NB's use stealth, once the wall(s) down, and then hide inside, staying quiet until the defenders have cleared the attackers, repaired & left. This is down to the defenders to do a full sweep of the place, inside & out. It's an annoyance, however it is not an exploit. (no, I don't do it - but I do 'sweep' the keeps after any wall has been taken down). Instakilling in these circumstances would be wrong.
I'm not against innovative ways of defeating exploiters & cheats and in no way am I defending or condoning their actions, as any who have read my previous posts will easily see.

I agree Zos needs to do something about this exploit, but adding a delay for a gap closer to work, an activation time, would make them useless for anything. While the effect in this case is jumping, that is not the actual mechanic that is occurring.

Sure Zenimax needs to fix it but the one thing they cannot fix is the intent to exploit. It's a double-sided problem and those willing to take advantage of any exploit are those that deserve to get banned because they will always jump at any chance to exploit something. Also since Zenimax won't police their own game themselves it falls to us to defend our precious Tamriel...

I mentioned this in another thread.

An invisible horizontal collision plane at the wall. If a player passes up from below that plane the player is instantly killed. The server knows if the walls are up or down. If the walls go down, then this collision is disabled.

Gap closing into keeps has always been a thing for NBs and DKs. Been that way since beta.

I'm actually in favor of allowing it. We begged for ladders long ago so gap closers would be a nice substitute. Some major changes would have to be made to maintain siege warfare though.

Unfortunately Zos has shown very little interest in changing/improving anything in PvP so there really is no point in brainstorming the various ways it could be done.

There is a note in today's patch that indicates that Battlespirit was allowing Dragon Leap to go farther than it should. Hopefully that will at least resolve the issue with them jumping up to Outpost Decks. We'll see if things are fixed on it. Until then, just keep taking screen prints and videos. Continue to report all those who are abusing this exploit as they care nothing for the rules and should be banned for their actions.
