Will the servers be back up today?

Will the servers be coming back up today? It's now 2pm and the game is still offline. I'm wondering if I should keep checking or expect to be unable to play until tomorrow.

Maintenance usually takes 4-6 hours, so they will be back up today of course, just a little later today..

I think last time, the servers came up around 5-6pm ish - not saying it'll be the same this time, but possibly just an indication.

Whilst today is relative, pretty sure they will come back soon. It is a major update and as far as I know the maintenance started only two hours ago. The worst downtime I remember was anything between 6-8 hours.

Servers went down at 9am bst - now 1:16pm bst - so 4 hrs - perhaps another 2-4 hrs

That's largely a cultural thing. Judging by the timestamps, the OP isn't in the UK, so they might not even have such a thing as tea time.

considering the time stamp & time OP stated - it is likely OP is Mid EU, generally 1hr ahead of BST.

Well, tea time is not just a british thing, it is a commonwealth thing actually. And with it it is on every continent including antarctic, station McMordo has english scientists. And there are otherwise countries on every continent, which are members of the commonwealth and adapted the habit of tea time.

Just an example each that you get the idea:

    Europe - UK obviously
    Asia - India
    Australia - commonwealth nation
    Africa - south africa
    North America - Canada
    South America - Guayana
    Antarctic - Station McMurdo

To further complicate matters, "tea time" varies according to class - and I don't mean DKs, etc.

If you are upper class then afternoon tea takes place around 3.30. Something to keep you going through an arduous game of croquet until dinner the main meal of the day.

If you're working class then tea is around 5 when you've finished work. You'll have had dinner at dinnertime - around midday.

Yes sadly its always the same bs people in EU lose day becouse of this, sence zos simply only care the NA side. And side note to this, can we divide sub's based on the days in month's so people in EU can pay avarege of 2 days less than people in NA, sence clearly we can also enjoy this game less ;)

Yes, that is exactly when we have tea time in south africa - 15:30 local time - staff will have a 30 minutes break to enjoy their tea.

Why is everyone acting as if the maintenance lasts 24 hours?
No one is losing a whole day.
    Do go read something.
Work on your build. Crunch some numbers, look up some sets you never even considered to use. Use google for ESO-related things if you can't even go a few hours without it.
And to all the working players that are only free once a week, exactly during the downtime... Ever thought of a career change? 24 hours times 6 days. Boy, that seems like a lot of work.

Prime time is approx 18:00 to 2:00.
With up to 8h of maintenance, i don't think it's possible to make people all over the world happy, so all you can do is try to avoid prime-time as good as possible. As it stands, people in America are best off, eastern russia worst. Given how ESO is played is not really a thing in sea/china, i guess the current time-slot is the best they could do. Perfect for NA makes decent for western Europe. Perfect for Europe would mean decent for a region with few to no players and terrible / prime-time for NA.

However, given quite a few Russians play this game, I think moving times ~2hours earlier, would probably be better. Plus, west-cost people would maybe go to bed in time that way ^^
