Me too. I would be super happy if my force shock would hit for a compareable amount of damage. Whip is one of the best spammables

Definetely, i think puncturing sweeps (including burning light), wrecking blow and rapid strikes are on par or beat whip, but they are all channelled/have a cast time. Funnel health, forcepulse, surprise attack and whatever don't hit that hard iirc.
The reason it hits like a wet noodle is that in PvE you have a tank taking all your damage while standing in a banner, in PvP you don't, you have to be your own tank/healer, and dps, account for your own sustain and balance your action bar around a skill that requires an entourage of abilities like talons and engulfing flames to compete with similar abilities that don't require an entourage. All of that brings your whip down to noodle damage.

If whip is noodle damage, then what is force shock ? Wet tissue paper ?
Give me the damage of whip and I will be the happiest mage on tamriel.

Never played mag dk and I'm mainly a PVPer so excuse my ignorance, but why do most people from PVP think it's poo/hits like a noodle? Is it actually good or?

Oh you mean with your frags, overload and mages wrath explosion? Force shock is the lower damage morph if you want more damage go with force pulse. The tool tip is lower than whip but whip doesn't come with 10% base penetration. But you missed the entire point of my post that whip is low due to building not tooltip.

Frags is not a spammable ability and mage's wrath is merely an execute (and a very bad one)
Overload is not very handy. You have to activate it first and enemies will instantly start dodging, reflecting or going very offensive against you. It's an ultimate afterall and requires dedication. Which means, you must focus on overload and can't use other ultimates. So yea, not good.
I'm speaking about normal spammable abilities such as force pulse and lash. And lash is worlds stronger than force pulse.

I can't help it if you don't use your sorcs skills properly. You stand in the center of mines, you wont use bolt escape, or work your frags and overloads in properly, you use the wrong morphs of abilities and complain about the damage... all that is on you not the abilities available to you. They work when you use them well.
10% armor penetration vs a bit higher tooltip is worlds stronger? Show me the math on that but the only reason you want whip in the first place is due to reflect which you have built yourself to be vulnerable to.

Start playing a Sorc, then we can talk again. Nothing works vs reflects.
3k higher tooltip+20% empower vs rooted targets is worlds stronger than a pitiful 10% spell penetration.
Most targets loose all of their resistance with light armor passive, sharpened and major breech.
10% penetration is a pitiful passive, just like all "destruction" passives

That is not how that works and requries two skills to pull off with a 5second cooldown. You have to not use a whip and instead rotate a low damage cc, whip to proc off balance and then you get a powerlash on your next whip. You have to lower your dps to raise your burst. The base is not 3k higher. A lot of people are in heavy armor now.

Even the base damage of whip is significantly higher than the damage of force shock.
