I honestly didn't know where to put this so I'll just post here:
I have a level 45 DK that I've leveled using heavy armor and sword/shield. But now I want to make him a dps DK. This would mean training medium armor and the like. Is it easier to make a new character and start him as dps or is it an easy catch up to get better dps skill lines leveled?
I like having the flexibility of being able to tank or do DPS with a gear/possible CP reallocation. Having done it, grinding as a tank is awful. Now that I have 2H leveled up and have a set of medium armor, the thought of whacking at a mob for thirty seconds until it dies is firmly in the past now. So I'd say invest into it.
Also, your friends, guildies and pugs alike will love you if you can still moonlight as a tank. :O
Just level up the skill lines. Ive recently been using Normal Malestrom arena for this. Seems to go really fast in there. If you have access to that dlc.
its easier to grind skills if you're cp160 because you can grind high level mobs in end game gear. If you can kill vr mobs easily then just stick with it. The more skills you slot, the faster it levels
The actual advice is to do all skills quests in the new armor and weapons/skills.
First you'll need the skill points and next you'll level those up faster doing these particular quests sequences.
Undaunted pledges and other dailies, too! Especially when you start to get Enlightenment at level 50, the EXP will go a long way. You can even keep your HA/SNS setup and just swap gear/bars when you go to turn in the quests.
This is why all my leveling characters wear a mix of armor types until the armor skills are leveled to 50. I go 3/2/2 for this. Yes, I forgo some 5 piece passives, but during leveling, they are not going to make that much a difference.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
