Will gear level be increased ever again?

So I've recently begun farming vMA. But I've heard conflicting reports of whether gear caps will be increased again or not. Some people are saying that the devs said in ESO Live that max level gear will always stay at CP160 from now on. But then there's pre-release notes from the DB DLC that say that the caps may eventually be increased to CP180 or CP200 or something.

Do we have a definitive answer on this? Will gear stay at CP160, or is there a chance that we'll get new mats and higher level gear? Cause if so, then it's not worth wasting time in vMA right now, with the crappy RNG and drop rates.. By the time I get anything useful in there we'd be at the verge of a level increase..

They may increase in the future, but not for a long time I wouldn't think, they've just scaled dragonstar and a lot of sets and other things to CP160, all that would be pointless if they planned on changing it anytime soon.

As long as they do something about rng amd improve drop rates first.

I'm sure at some point it will get raised to CP180... Probably for the next "major" update.

I hope when they do they have all the mechanics for scaling the dungeons and trials in place so they will automatically scale with it.

If they want to up the gear level cap, they better be adding a system to reforge gear so it can level up as well. *** grinding everything out again and again.

I really hope that they do this - something that allows you to increase the level of your bound items.. @ZOS_GinaBruno

Otherwise half the people (including me) will quit if they have to farm vMA again to get this higher level gear with the right traits..

Or now that they have adjusted sets to be able to scale them, they are ready to increase gear caps easily.

Its likely huh. But just hope there's warning, you'd be gutted to blow all your tempers the week prior if you just got ur gear sorted.

I get it drives crafting / gold sink / interest but also be a faff if you only just sorted 'End game' gear

I have just started kitting my characters out in CP160 gear, they better not raise the caps.

Besides, what purpose would it serve? Unless they rebalance the mobs, all it means is we will be even more powerful. And, if they want to balance the power of the game, that can be done and leave gear alone.

They likely will, I just hate every MMO that has an upward spiral on level/gear progression. I think companies should be a little more intuitive on how to allow players to progress, if that's even needed anymore.

Just release more content, different tactics instead of raising levels. No one likes grinding.

To add to what others have implied: what is the purpose of increasing the item level to CP180 if they are going to scale the entire game to player level with One Tamriel?

I personally hate the idea of further increasing item levels and would much rather see a well-applied, creative solution to encourage the ongoing search/acquisition of new gear.

Eventually there will be new levels of gear, players, etc. Happens in virtually all MMOs. When it happens there will be a great response from the player base ranging from YAY to screams of anger and my 3000 guildies are quitting. The only real questions are will it be done better then the earlier cap levels and what is the state of the game population.

I would expect a level increase before the end of 2016 considering how long we have been at the present level. The increase of 30 CP upcoming means pretty much nothing and gear grind is one of the basics of MMOs to keep the player base busy, otherwise they get bored and move on to the next shiny MMO.

I hope they never increase the gear cap. It's pointless in a game where all content scales to cap anyway. The two systems work against eachother. If the gear/level cap were to increase tomorrow to cp180, I'd actually be more powerful as a cp160 with cp160 gear, scaled up to cp180 in that cp180 content than I would be if I were to level up and play that content with my old cp160 gear. That's just messed up that I'd be penalized for leveling up before I had the gear to level into.

I expect yearly cap increases so ever 4 DLCs which seems fair unless they come up with a completely new gear system with or after one Tamriel.
