I disagree and I fully understand that eso plus must have more exclusive content. As non-subscriber I think we already have A LOT of different styles and armors to choose from, and this should be enough for anyone willing to find his unique style in game, just for the cost of base game. I wouldn't demand anything more, like costumes or dyeing them being available for non-subs too.zardenurghanb14_ESO wrote: »Feel free to disagree with me on this but honestly this is some EA level of stupidity.
So much dye station and crafting bag crying. It's £9 a month. If you can't afford it, you have more important things to focus on. Ifyo udon't get it out of principle, that's your decision, own it or change it, don't moan though.

It's a pay wall if you have to pay for it, that's the definition of paywall. The reason someone wants money from you for the feature is irrelevant.
They are not here to give stuff for free, but the thing is, that it is not for free because you have to buy the game and the addons! FTP game not the same as Pay to play game, learn the difference!
This really is very counter intuitive by ZOS. I know their logic is that it would make more people want to subscribe in order to dye.
BUT, the flipside is really that you're making people who aren't subscribes less inclined to buy a costume if they can't dye them.

The fact of the matter is, nobody has to dye their costumes.
The argument that "they might as well make armor dying ESO+ exclusive too" is just petty.
You don't pay for armor, you work for them.
You do pay for costumes, you do pay for ESO+, so now here's a extra benefit.

When you bought the game, you paid for the base game. They've already improved upon what you originally bought, there came a point where the initial $60 you paid was surpassed and now you're asking to get even more bang for your buck, for free.
ZOS is money hungry..... what else is there to say

You do realize they are in this to make money. MMOs cost millions of dollars to develop, maintain and create new content for. In addition to costs, they also need to make a profit. If they don't make a profit, there wont' be a game for people to complain about.

I just want to say that i find it absolutely hilarious that people begged zos for months for additional benefits for subbing and now that that's happening, first craft bag now costume dying, on come the torrent of complaints that it's no fair lol.
Be careful what you wish for? Haha
*** hate paywalls in games man.... even more in a BUY TO PLAY games... if i knew there are dlcs and stuff locked behind paywall in this game i would have never bought it. there are free to play games with less restrictions(close to no restrictions). at least make crown store stuff to be tradeable, that way with a lot of gold u can buy whatever u want without needing to pay more and more

Feel free to disagree with me on this but honestly this is some EA level of stupidity.
In the end I decided the best option for me was to buy a 1 month subscription, dye all my costumes and then immediately cancel the sub. (I still get the full 30 days, but it won't renew.) It cost me £9 which seems like a reasonable price for the amount of characters/costumes I have and I'm not likely to want to change them regularly.
Most importantly though it let me dye them the colours I wanted (like changing the section at the front of the evening gown from red to purple) instead of dying the entire thing random clashing colours.BrianDavion wrote: »zardenurghanb14_ESO wrote: »

no it's not it's not even close. I played SWTOR for YEARS. I even enjoyed it for a good length of time until fairly recently. and lemme tell you, comparing ZOS's decision here to EA is beyond hyperbole.
let's look at SWTOR for a moment, I'll not get into all the various other aspects
of the game, beyond noting that ZOS gives everyone their subscription cost in crowns each month which is EXTREMELY generous by industry standards.
let's look at dye options... to dye your armor in SWTOR you need basicly a dye stamp even if you're a subscriber. thjat IS the only dye system. to get these dye stamps, you need to buy RANDOM PACKS, and hope for a dye you like (now in fairness this does mean the auction house in SWTOR has plenty of ugly dyes dirt chea, if you wanna be a really hidious pastel pink you can do it free) you can SOMETIMES by a black/black black white, white/white or white/black dye direct from their CM, but it costs 20 dollars.
so no this dye system ISN'T EA level. if it was EA level we'd ALL have to use it, and we'd be duying the stamps in a random pack where even if one of the combos was too our liking, good luck finding it!
To be fair that doesn't sound hugely different from how Guild Wars 2 (a buy-to-play game) does it.
Most dyes in that game come from the cash-shop - as "unidentified dyes" which turn into a random colour. Sometimes there are special packs which are limited to one colour range or theme but you still can't control which colour you get. It is possible to craft them (again randomised, you'll craft 'a red dye' and it will turn into one of about 20 possibilities) but it's very expensive or get unidentified dyes as rare drops.
All of which means the most sensible way to get a specific colour is to buy it on the Trading Post from someone who was trying for a different colour (or gambling, hoping they'd make more money than simply exchanging cash shop currency for gold directly).
