Can't report/ignore people sending PVP hate/abuse.

So, what is the deal with this?

I decided to try out the IC DLC for the first time and was just wandering around the districts with 2-3 others killing mobs and bosses. This dude kept trolling the guards as they were spawning at a flag we captured, so a couple of us gave chase.

I threw Purifying Light and Vampire's Bane on this guy, caught him with a Blazing Spear and Toppling Charge combo, set up my ground AOE and pretty much just jabbed him to death while the other guys hit him from range.

Not sure if it was because I was keeping up with him using my gap closer, because I survived his proxy det + Ultimate combo or what. I run 5 heavy Fasalla and 5 Transmutation and use Ritual of Retribution and Channeled Focus for even more tankiness and passive heals, and to purge poisons/dots etc.

So immediately after he died (and for the next hour) this dude started sending hate whispers to me alone out of the three of us that killed him, telling me how I was cheating, hacking his health regen, how he will report me and a bunch of really nasty swearing and insults, "go kill yourself," etc.

I tried to whisper him back that it was Fasalla debuffing his health regen and that not even Cheat Engine can hack OTHER people's stats, but I got "account not found." Same when trying to report him. Yet he keeps whispering me with this hate! How can he whisper me and yet I can't reply to him?

ZOS, what are we supposed to do about toxic people like this when we can't report or even ignore them?

You can't report him using /bug or add him to your ignore list?

No, it just says "account not found."

It might be due to him having a "ô" in his name?

EDIT: I had to log for a few hours so maybe he'll get bored and be gone when I get back.

This is a prime example of why i refuse to ever set a foot upon Cyrodill.
You could turn off all whispers from your chat settings if you can't ignore him any other way.

Those special letter characters mess things up. I tried to invite someone to my guild and I couldn't because of that character. My guess is this guy gets away with some serious raging because people can't report him.

They shouldn't be allowing these special characters in the system if they cannot be easily typed and recognized.

The funny thing is, @Vipstaakki I was really enjoying IC. I never thought I would say that, being not much for PVP, but the atmosphere was pretty cool. The heartbeat/breathing of the patrolling bosses made me think of the original Zelda when you got close to the bosses room.

There's lots of ledges and windows and strategic buildings to jump around in which makes small skirmishes a lot of fun. I can imagine a nightblade with the teleport shade being a real nightmare in some of these places where you otherwise have to go all the way around a building to get upstairs.

I am going to look into either downloading or writing an addon that lets you add people to a custom ignore list. That way it bypasses whatever check the game is failing and just adds the text string of their name to a database that is filtered out of any future chat.

When people send me hate tells in game I respond back with random nature facts. So when somebody sends me a hate tell of "lol u noob lern 2 git gud" I respond a random fact like "The honeybee has to travel an average of 43,000 miles to collect enough nectar to make a pound of honey!".

I guess the key is to transcend the annoyance. I also found Mute Player which I am going to test later.

I used to do something similar, but instead of nature facts I would try to regurgitate loading screen hints.

Them: WTF cloak-spamming noob L2P
Me: Did you know at level 15 you equip a second weapon and swap between them during combat?

I never understood the point of hate tells. For me, copy/pasting random nature facts is kind of a zen way to handle it. I learn random stuff as I google up things like "bird facts" and "things about trees" and I can share those facts while people berate my sexuality and ancestry in hate tells. XD

@Phinix1 , send a PM with his name to one of the forum administrators explaining the situation and asking how to proceed. Usually their recommendation is to simply mute the ***, but since you apparently can't do that because a special character in his name, maybe they can suggest an alternative solution or investigate the problem. I honestly don\t know why they accept special characters when clearly their system can't handle them properly.

Id have ignored him 2 seconds into his hate tell. Granted I'd have tea bagged him nice warm and fuzzy to make sure he rages all day long with him in my ignore list. MMmmm the very thought brings warmth to my icy cold heart.

The main problem here is those uncommon characters. Not everyone has a keyboard to deal with them, but consoles at least have the means via the virtual keyboard.

I think if a name has uncommon characters you have to put a , at the end to whisper them back.
