Why do the european servers act like we are in the U.S?

Simple question really, why aren't they in Europe?

They used to be in the US, I was under the impression they were now in germany. My resting ping to the EU megaserver is 50ms and I live in the SW of the UK. Pretty sure I'd have more latency if they were still in the US.

When the game launched the EU servers were in the US, but sometime in the first year they were moved to Europe.

The timing of the maintenance windows has nothing to do with it.

It's not though. American and European servers go off on the exact same second every time. They're either the two most in sync areas ever or they're the same

The wonders of remote management.

One team working on it doesn't mean the machines are not in physical different locations.

I do lots of remote management for work. It's not that uncommon anymore.

So really they just don't care about European servers enough to close them at 5am our time?

They used to be done at 2-3am, would be nice as I would be watching WWE at the time the server was down

They have remote access to the EU server, they don't need to catch a plane to Germany every week.

I have no idea why ZOS sets their maintenance times as they do, but the thesis of your OP is objectively wrong. The EU servers are in Europe, full stop.

So who else thinks it wouldn't be too difficult for them to "remote network" our maintenance at a standard maintenance time? I'd like to be able to play on my Mondays off and when they do have extended maintenance they don't even warn us.

    We could use some change

Maintenance timings have always changed since launch; at one point they were at 3am gmt, then 6am gmt, and separate from US maintenance times. My favourite time was 3am cos it would be complete by 6am when I finish work. I guess they made them the same for US and EU to save resources and therefore money. You can't please all of the people all of the time.

Perhaps but you should still conform to standards you're not comfortable with to please a customer. In this case it's every European player except the ones who want to play at the dead times(but they probably are playing for other reasons not just because it's the best time for them to play)
