VMA Weapon RNG Is Lower Post-DB

I just completed my 9th Maelstrom run in a row with no weapon at the end. I got this robust Winterborn ring though. Lmao.

Something definitely needs to be done about the RNG involving Veteran Maelstrom Arena, or have the weapons be able to be sold. Even pre-DB I have never had 9 runs with no weapons occur. The most was 5. Then on the 6th run, I'd get a weapon. And even then, I didn't have to worry about some of the terrible traits that may show up. It was always: Defending, precise, or sharpened. Can you guys please do something about this? Because the whole 50% chance of a weapon being at the end is really not true. Lol. By the way, well over 130 runs (combined between pre-DB and post-DB) and I've yet to see a destruction staff of any kind in the last chest. I didn't even receive my first staff period until the late 90's (got a sharpened restoration staff), and not too long after that (somewhere in the early 100's) I received a precise restoration staff. I'm really starting to believe now that VMA is fundamentally broken in terms of loot RNG.

Well, from a programmer's perspective — that's not exactly true. Something isn't truly random, if it's programmed to give a certain amount of values (even if jumbled up). RNG is just that. Random number generator. Key words are: "Number" and "Generator". It's programmed to do something if those numbers allign a certain way, hence losing its "random" aspect. not to mention someone programmed the generator itself. Follow what I'm saying?

I genuinely feel for ppl who have to farm for weapons this patch. It was honestly much better before the patch. They added useless traits & a "50%" drop chance. In my experience most of the weapons I've gotten this patch through weekly rewards or final chest have been useless.

I agree, even though I'm in that group of people that have to farm for weapons still. I have every Maelstrom Weapon that a stamina class could want, in: Defending, precise, and sharpened. As well as other misc. traits (e.g. infused and nirnhoned). Even in multiples. I have so many sharpened and precise: Axes, bows, daggers, etc. I could build a club house out of them.

But, I specialize in magicka builds. And only have 2 restoration staves. A precise 1 and a sharpened 1. And 0 destruction staves. Which is a very big problem in my situation, as my stamina characters just collect dust for the most part (once I finished gearing them up and have them looking pretty). I'll use them here and there, so I can become familiar with various builds involving stamina. But, I'm a mage at heart. And the awkward loot is just disheartening.

201 runs. No destro staff. 200 pre-DB, 1 post-DB. Got a ring. Tried talking sense into ZOS.

Unsubscribed after 77 runs. Uninstalled after the 201st run. Playing Black Desert now. Better loot system, better graphics, better PvE, better PvP, less lag. If you want things to change, you have to give ESO a real break. No the one where you complain on the forums, but still go and buy a fancy Crown mount.

ZOS punishes you for spending your time in game, having skills and investing effort.

I can only encourage anyone to try Black Desert to see what a good game looks like. Those devs really deserve your money. And until ZOS learns from them, this is where your money should go.

Are classes still gender locked and do you have to wear a potato sack from lev 1 to max unless you spend $30 on one of the 3 costumes available in the cash shop?

They should just add 100% drop chance to the last chest, fair and square.
Considering the amount of useless trait combinations, chances to get good items wont be too high anyway.
Also, they could add some kind of code that makes items with the traits/types you didnt get before more likely to drop, to avoid getting 100 sword and boards when you just need a twohander. I think it should be possible.
Or they could introduce a weapon exchange, where you could trade some unwanted weapons for one you want.

New players and those who werent lucky enough pre-DB are just screwed now. This is just ridiculous and not fun at all.

Gave up running that trash after getting a charged resto staff, with db zos ruined VMSA, I have better things to spend my time on rather than fighting layers of rng in a solo arena.

Ive done it around 10-15 times and have 4 lightning staffs and 1 ice staff.

Also a resto, bow, a 1h mace in nirnhoned and a 2h from the weekly reward

i would say theres been no change and youre clutching at straws

Is also anyone else so heavily annoyed when others say "VMSA"? As if 'Maelstrom' were two seperate words, lol.

But anyway, I've ran vMA several times in the past few days, usually just 1 run a day, I'm too desperate to have lightning staff and seeing other people's experience I just feel demoralized. Haven't had a single maelstrom weapon ever (altough I have only had a few runs pre-DB).
I fully support the idea of token reward system since increasing the drop rate or granting a guaranteed maelstrom weapon drop is most likely not something we will be seeing.

I have given up on running the maelstrom. I started to run it for the maelstrom fire staff, and to this day I still do not have it. I have 4+ of all the stamina weapons though.

I decided I did not want to bother with it anymore, waste of time.

This weeks maelstrom haul:
About 10+ rings, all with the wrong traits
Charged 2h Battle Axe
Charged mace and shield
Charged Lightning Staff
And i finally made the leaderboard with my stam sorc:
Healthy winterborn ring
And
Charged mace and shield.

So basically 6 dwemer frames, and some spare change from a merchant.

What was the average 2h weapon drop for you,after how many runs? Ive done it 20 times post DB(before I never tried it), have yet to to see a single 2h weapon.

Has anyone gotten a sharpened 2h post DB? Does the sharpened trait even drop anymore?

The non weapon drops are all awful. I challenge the devs to run vet Maelstrom using the parabellum set with only charged weapons. Why is there so much useless loot in one of the most challenging pieces of content? Even if the set pieces weren't bind on pickup, they'd be worth less than the potions you use to get through maelstrom.

I have had 2x nirn 2h from chest and a precise one from the rewards.

I haven't had anything sharpened otherwise.

Hm... While I'm sure some people out there have gotten Maelstrom weapons in the sharpened trait post-DB, I've never gotten any. All the sharpened Maelstrom weapons I've ever received were pre-DB.

I haven't done it in 2 weeks and it feels great!

I went 11 completions with no drop since DB came out, that is a lot of time for nothing to show.
