Any fun in pvp?

Since I started to play ESO I wanted to be everytime in pvp. Well, low level pvp wasn't that fun because the lack of skills/experience/gear/cp...
Time passed and I ended with 630cp, high end pve runs, top scores and so on...in two words pve hardcore.
"What are you saying there? You want to be in pvp everytime but you do pve hardcore? What's the logic, dude?"- that's what most people ask me and I ask myself sometimes.

I did a lot of pvp aswell. I was emperor, I learned to fight 1vX, I learned how to counter each class and so on. But what after that? Everyday I enter my campaign I seek for fights and try to avoid the zerg by going to the nearest fort from the zerg. Sometimes is fun cause I end with 1v1, 1v2, 1v3 etc....but after a while you get zerged anyhow. "Don't like to be zerged? Then join a zerg." Ok, I join a zerg...and then there it comes the lag, the unplayable pvp from eso. Not to speak about prime time when you lag even in your base.
I preffer to solo pvp..or with 2-3 friends, but in Cyro it can't happen most of the time...so I end again playing pve just because the lag and zerg.
I was waitting for arenas...but there is atleast 1more year to wait for. I tried IC but it is either dead or almost dead on every campaign (just 1-2farmming here and there)

Now, the question: do you have any fun playing pvp in eso or is it 90% for pve only? How do you pvp? Do you like the zerg? Would you like to have duels/arenas earlier? Do I miss anything from pvp?

I primarily PvE but when I do PvP I honestly enjoy the whole armies at war setting. Strategy war games are something I enjoy. I also enjoy a good 1 on 1 from time to time.

Cyrodiil is still pretty much zerging from keep to keep, pretty boring. If you get a small group like 4-5 you can have some tiny bit of fun though, until a few zergs take notice and just goes to the resource you are at, lag everything to *** and wrecks you. IC still fairly dead, but that's the annoyance of having to worry about NB's nonstop, no one wants to go in there solo and worry about this SINGLE class nonstop, it's just to annoying.

Exactly! Sometimes I'm thinking about quitting the game because the pvp part...
If they could make IC like a battleground it would be great

I'm having a lot of fun in PvP! Usually, anyway. Sometimes you get zerged by 85+ DC. I usually Duo with Nafirian or run in a group of 4-6 people. We can easily wipe 15-20+. And that's fun. But playing solo, it's pretty hard.

IC works for solo-play, well, some. Unless you run into any of the DA or Honour-zergs, naturally. But I usually find PvP quite fun. Also, avoiding Trueflame from 18.00CET and until midnight is usually a good idea, too. IC is nice at that time - or Ebony. Even Spell Breaker can be fun. For small-scale, anyway.

Had some really nice tower-defence with a small group. Wiping 25+ opponents and stuff. It can be really fun - but you get zerged at times.

PvP used to be fun and lag free. Then ZOS neglected it for 1.5 years. Then, when imperial city came back out, they suddenly made radical changes after neglecting it for so long and no one on the development team had even stepped foot in PvP for about a year.

PvE got better but the removal of softcaps and the implementation of the Crapeon System was terrible for PvP. If you have to reduce damage, shields and heals by 50%, you know your game has power creep out the yinyang.

Many other decisions like adding terrible mandatory snares to ALL gap closers and buffing other snares led to a very Zergy form of gameplay. It seemed like every combat decision from the removal of dynamic ultimate to AOE caps buffed zergs and make it harder to run small group or solo, which used to be very fun.

Changes are made from time to time but usually every major change just shows how out of touch the development community is with the people that actually PvP.

There are plenty of calls within the community to fix things, change the way damage is calculated, etc but it doesn't feel that ZOS is on the same page as the PvP community some times.

Yes... if you like getting ganked. I'll admit to not being a big social person and am not into competition, so have not done a lot of PVP, but I found it very tedious. Cyrodiil is just a lot of riding around, die, take a keep, die, loose a keep, die, ride around again, die, rinse, dry and repeat. I found Imperial City to be worse - minus the riding around.

I know it is not that to everyone as we all have different taste and maybe with a good group of friends I could have some fun but I choose to mostly stick with PVE and find lots to do there. People who love PVP probably would say that PVE is boring.

PvP> PvE for me, anyway. But I still don't mind PvE. I've done everything except vMoL, anyway. It's quite challenging and interesting. And there is a lot PvP can teach you, that you can also use in PvE. Animation Cancelling in pressured situations, resource-management, block/dodge roll-timing. Same as PvE can teach you things you can use in PvP.

I find PvP really bad if I play it solo. But bringing a few friends together, its great. Random derp on TS, doing stupid stuff together etc. Partner(s) in crime :^

I only play it to get Vigor/Horn/Proxi Detonation, and i usually join a group to make ap gain faster.

I actually had a lot of fun yesterday, and almost no lag even in large fights (in Haderus on a Sat night, i was very impressed).

    i dont pvp... period.

    Nothing to do with eso.

    true for any other game.

i refuse to play competitively any game that is organically intentionally imbalanced.

What do i mean by that?

Take Go, chess, poker etc etc etc

When you and someone else sit down to play neither side has an advantage WITHIN THE GAME RULES. Whether you have been playing for six months or six years, you start off even. these are organically balanced.* What the guy did yesterday or last week or last years has no DIRECT impact on playability, other than just more experience to draw on. Quite literally, the playing field is equal.

Take ESO or i supposed kost other MMO... even if you and your opponent are the same level, if they have been playing PVP longer they should have access to PVP specific gear and PVP specific skills and that kind of thing only gained through PVP activities. Quite literally, what he accomplished last week or last month or whenever can carry on into the fight today not just as him being more savvy or having more experience but in them having a superior set of gear to you, basically a rules determined uneven field.

i choose to not play those kinds of games. Just like i choose to not play games where "pay-to-win" is a thing - like some card games were or maybe still are.

but at a fundamental level in this game you are missing out on certain gear and certain skills which can only be acquired thru PVP. fortunately, you really dont need them either.

I did pve enough to get undaunted 9 and as well as my monster sets. Now I 99% do pvp unless someone needs my help with a dungeon.

I started to do the dark brotherhood questline today, after the first quest I got bored and knew this wasn't for me. So, I dropped out of the Gold Coast and headed back to Cyrodiil. Thank God those quests aren't required to do.

I enjoy PvP, though I prefer to run in small to medium groups. Sometimes you end up at the same keep as everyone else, because that's the logical place to be in the campaign at that moment. But I do enjoy the strategy part, sieging and counter-sieging.

I run with a PvP guild, but my social guild also has a PvP night now, which is fun as well.

Got back into alliance war two weekends ago, after not venturing into Cyrodiil since 2014 for the alliance war aspect of the game, excluding time in IC gaining tv stones.
lag? for sure. Always know when zergs are around my location. Saying this, I run in groups, zergs if you like and enjoy the battles. Participated in a few drawn out battle for keeps, even ones where all three alliances are battling at the same spot.
Knows lag is going to contribute to my death in pvp, without getting upset about it.
My annoyance comes from the being stuck in loading screens, random disconnects and being shown in combat when sitting inside keeps not under siege or at one of the gates.

I like to run in small groups (4-6 ish) and find evenly matched fights... which may not be even numbers. I like trying to guess where the enemy will go next. I like encountering random solo players and fighting duels. I even like zerg surfing when the match ups are good and it isn't too laggy. Open field is far more fun than keep defense/capture for me.

Unfortunately, that's a tiny minority of the time. So often you are either facing overwhelming odds or you think you have a small fight coming and turn around and there's a friendly zerg behind you.

ZOS hasn't offered any PvE I find interesting at all since Orsinium, so I pretty much don't PvE at all anymore except for leveling new toons.

So far I'm definitely a PvE player, Im just a bit of a Elder Scrolls fanboy so I would rather learn more about the cultures and lore of the various cultures in Tamriel through PvE gameplay. Having said that I'm trying to do more PvP however im finding it really hard as im usually just solo, and as you indicated very laggy when there are a few combatants on the screen , meaning I just get slaughtered all the time, then the worst part is the distances one has to ride to get back in battle ...depressing.
(Or maybe im just really really bad at PvP)

I play pvp the most and i'm probably one of the worst players ever, but i still have a lot of fun in Cyro and in IC.
Unfortunatly lag negate some builds especially if you need to AC a lot in order to be effective (magica sorcerer and magika dk) but when i lag a lot i switch to my stamplar and heavy attack/jab spam like there is no tomorrow.

The pvp playerbase is getting better every day and is always challenging, you can't simply faceroll the keyboard to win (like in pve... VMOL and VMSA apart).

And i run solo 90% of the time 1v the world :P

I'd recommend trying nonCP. It's been quite fun with an 8-10 person group. Not sure how solo/duo friendly it is, but your stats are not bloated to superhero status like they are in CP campaign which makes resources and maneuvering much more important and fun, imo.
