Would you like to see a separate Apparel tab that allows you to display certain armor (like costumes), while the existing Apparel tab holds your stat-providing armor?

Yes, I'd love to have armor display that can be different to my stat-providing armor

So one thing I appreciate about SWTOR is their Costume Tab system, wherein you can wear any kind of cosmetic armor you like and apply it over your stat-providing armor. This provides a MASSIVE amount of visual customization I loved, but is sorely lacking in ESO... primarily because outside Costumes, your armor is tied to your appearance.

This became a problem when I wanted to have an heavy armor appearance, but to not be a liability in my role I really have to go Light Armor for all the bonuses. The Costume system sorted of worked around this, but it was very limited in that costumes couldn't be changed from their base. With the Costume Dyeing system coming, this'll be improved but not perfected.

After all, ESO is FULL of lots of lovely motifs... but crafting and recrafting new motifs at max level is incredibly costly to the player, and certain weights (Light/Medium/Heavy) usually share a relatively common look: you can't really get away from Light armor looking like cloth or dresses. With an upgraded Apparel system, you could wear whatever you want and your stats would be provided by something different.

Want to wear Dwemer Heavy Armor? Okay, craft yourself some level 10 Heavy armor and slap it in the secondary Apparel tab and apply it: your full Medium Armor set is still there providing bonuses, but now you have that Dwemer Heavy look you always wanted. Rinse and repeat for any combination and dye colors you like!

Essentially I'd like there to be a second Apparel tab, one that's entirely cosmetic and provides no stats while the existing Apparel holds your the armor you want to provide stats. That way you can wear one type of armor and get the benefits, but visually look like something entirely different. Essentially an option to make armor into a costume.

So basically, you'd like to see a slot in your character menu with the costume you're currently wearing?
I don't really miss a feature like that, opening costume menu is within my capability...

Also, there already is a slot for equip-able costumes that could serve that purpose, but it's meaningless if you ask me.

EDIT: I see, you'd like a different costume system... Me too, but this one is better at squeezing your wallet dry.

Not quite, I'm asking to be able to equip armor into a cosmetic tab that shows visually, while in another tab my worn armor provides stats.

For example say I'm wearing a full Altmer Heavy armor set visually, but my stats/bonuses are all based on a full Lich Set I'm wearing "underneath". The cosmetic armor and stat-providing armor are entirely different, at present your armor provides both appearance and stats. I'd like to be able to separate those.

You added the second post only after I already replied, so I updated my original post.

    Here's the edit for recap.

I'm not sure if that would cover what I'm hoping to be able to do: I moreso want to be able to ignore Armor Weight entirely and look how I want without being limited by that. Restyling would, as far as I know, just enable to change one Light armor to another Light armor style as far as I know.

Costumes are okay, but they're incredibly limited in offerings. There's a massive amount of possibilities for armor dyeing and so on, but they're limited by weight... going a "wrong weight" for your role just nerfs yourself.

I don't see why not, as using armour type as a visual cue to determine an enemy players setup is negated by costumes anyway.

If you have the piece and you know the same style motif, I'd like to be able to swap in a variant appearance of the same style.

For example, I like the Briarheart set stats but absolutely hate those shoulders. Some people probably loathe the Hawk’s Eye shoulders.

For as hard as it is for some motifs to be found, it wouldn't hurt to offer more than one appearance option per style material. This is pretty much the best way to offer legs variants without side armor while they're at it. Of course the next best way is the way ZOS would probably do it, style variation packs for crowns...

Oh absolutely, one of the things I miss most about SWTOR is the ability to do exactly this. I've had to get rid of armor that is actually better than what I have simply because it is so damn ugly. So I'd love to see something like this implemented.

DCUO had a system like this called "transmodification" allowed you to wear your set gear but make it look like somthing else based on all the styles you've collected.

Zos really should consider this even if they wanted to put it behind ESO+ and the crown store although DCUO did this for free.

I'd actually appreciate it if the common clothing that appear on NPC's can also act as Light Armor so you can look casual without sacrificing the stats actual crafted clothing gives.
