(pve) Are Stam-NB hard to play, or do I just suck?

I like my NB, I like being a thief, shadow and quick attacks. I'm only cp180 and have Nightmothers/Hunding set on but I feel like I suck at the class. I do great damage, I try and balance with buffs like Mirage and relentless focus 100% up-time, block/dodge/interrupt . Is it essential for NB to have Vigor, is that what I'm missing?. I don't have that yet, so I'm using Bloodcraze(DoTing every mob) for little extra Heal. Also using Soul tether. 6med, 1 heavy

Do I just suck at being a NB?. Or would Vigor really help out. Any tips?.

A good self heal is always good to have. When you think you suck, are you talking pve or pvp?

I would definitely go to PvP and get Vigor and Caltrops. Don't forget to use drinks/foods/potions/enchantments.

Having the same problem - it seems that Vigor is an absolute requirement to play PVE Stamblade :-(

Or rally at the least on your back bar if you don't want to go pvp. I would also go evasion (shuffle) on a stamina character rather than mirage.

Use weapon crit pots and drop thief stone and use shadow. Much more damage on that set up.

If you want to play stam, Vigor is essentially a requirement. Even in Vet MOL or Vet SO, I keep Vigor on my bar. It is such a great heal. Dirt cheap, and its an AOE heal. I would also recommend getting caltrops, but it is not nearly as essential. Caltrops does not stack, so the general rule is that the highest DPS in the group (or the one wearing 5 piece Night mothers) gets to run it. The good news, it really doesnt take that long in PVP.

As to your question, stam toons are generally harder to play. You must play in very close melee range, and stam is a tougher resource to manage than magic. Stam characters, NBs included, are pulling really good numbers right now, but the rotation is tricky. It also requires VMA weapons if you want to out perform the magic builds. NBs are probably best suited to run without VMA weapons, because they can use surprise attack.

I would focus on getting Vigor, and bumping your CP a bit. I find that stam classes especially get much easier to play once you get to about 250 CP.

Vigor is my best self heal for stamblade. Rally also heals a bit.

PvE? Stamblade is one of the worst PvE classes in comparison to the other classes, Mageblade on the other hand is one of the best PvE classes...its just a fact of life.

PvP? No matter how badly the class as a whole gets nerfed into the ground everyone will say its OP due to ya' know its class identity of "lol, that guy was off guard and now hes instantly dead."

Vigor will make your gameplay much easier.

I run "Siphoning Attacks" as well to regenerate stamina.

Apparently. I'm not a good player at all and a stamina NB is da'bomb! I usually play a mage, but, my NB is by far my easiest character to play. The main thing for me was learning to stay out of harm's way while still dealing insane amounts of damage.

What makes Magic NB good, is it few spells they have that Stam doesn;t?. I could try them out one day.

My main is a StamBlade. I have been playing him for 2 years. Just 4 days ago I went and got Vigor. So, do you need Vigor? No, but it will make playing easier. All you really need is cloak. I cloak through all DoTs. Then I pop a Tri-Pot. No problem. I would recommend getting Vigor asap though.

You might wanna specify what you're doing, because you're writing that your dps is great but you ask what you could improve because you think you suck?!
If you're a DD why bother if your dps is great, having vigor doesn't make you do more dps

vMsa is a different story, vigor is really helpful there

For solo play you should grab Vigor (great Stam heal), Rally from 2H (good HoT that gves you 20%+ Weapon Damage) and Siphoning Attacks

For group play like Trials and Pledges, you don't really need to focus on healing but DPSing. Rally is still a good skill to have then due to the Weapon Damage bonus but otherwise, you can do just fine with Dual Wield + Bow if you like the Thief looks

They are night and day. Dont listen to anyone saying Stamblade is one of the worst in PVE. It's simply not true. A good Stamblade will out DPS a mediocre mage blade all day, and my money is on the stamblade if both are properly geared with the right person behind the controls. Stam builds are nuts right now if you get VMA weapons and master the rotation, doesnt really matter which class.

That being said, Magic Nightblade is one of the easier classes to play accross the board (probably second easiest after magic Templar). They stay at range, and both their single target and aoe spam heals while you DPS. If you dont like the in your face playstyle, magic NB is probably the better option for you, but Stam NB is doing just fine at endgame right now.

In PVP, both stam and magic NB are very strong. I like them both for different reasons.

Stam NB might be the best PVE Stam class right now. Don't underestimate the importance of having a class execute particularly when pulling competive PVE dps requires DW/bow.

Yeah. Somewhat using DD NB one on the bottom, minus some spells like Fighters' Guild since I'm only level 8 in there. Pain in the arse. Don't have Dawn, Meteor, caltrops, and as for Siphoning attacks, I don't really run out of stamina.

IL FIX YOUR PROBLEM! Just do what Blobs, Sypher and every other NB does. Buff up..ambush+fear+ult(incap or dawnbreaker) cloak and roll dodge spam away, hump a rock, rinse and repeat

Vigor is essential. After I got that on my Stamina NB it was easy street. Then I dropped soul tether and slotted an Ultimate that actually does respectable damage.

With just 1 heavy armor you need it even more.

I go to trials with my Stamblade, and she 's doing great! Of course, she relies on healer heavily since she doesn't have much mitigation except for Med armor resist and CP, but that's normal.

Bow's Dots and Dual Wielding skills work great for both aoe and single target... and Dromede is not even min-maxed, being a wood elf.

If you have vMA weapoms, stamblades are awesome (but that goes for all stam builds), if you dont... meh. The main advantage of mageblades is that they arent so dependent on these and that your main attacks actually heal you.

As everyone has been saying Vigor is good to have as a Stamina build simply because there honestly isn't much, if anything, better. However, as a NB don't be afraid to use Mark Target. Kill something marked for a HUGE heal! Something about to die and you need healed? Mark it and deliver the finishing blow. Also as has been said even though Siphoning Attacks uses Magicka it's great for resource return on both ends! As for Blood Craze, that as a siphon is yucky in my opinion. You'd be better off running Refreshing Path...
