Dungeon finder scaling lowbies to cp160?

Just had a strange experience with the dungeon finder. We had a group all level 12 - 18. Not cp12 or cp18. All lowbies. We queued for a random normal and it put us in Fungal Grotto scaled to cp160. Took FOREVER to clear it.

Is this normal/intended behavior?

Yes, it's working as intended.

If you use the dungeon finder, everyone will be scaled to CP 160.

However, if you form your own group and enter the dungeon manually, it will be set to the same level as the group leader.

Any dungeon run through group/dungeon finder will scale to CP160 and adjust everyone to that level. While everyone is theoretically at the same level as the dungeon, if you have no experience and don't know the mechanics, it can still take a long time to complete.

The only way to avoid this is to get a group together and travel to into a dungeon without using dungeon finder - everything then scales to the group leader. If you are already in a group of 4, I guess you are after the random XP rewards, in which case leveling to CP160 is the price you have to pay to get it.

We had a group of guildies doing a Normal pledge last weekend, and the lowest level in the group was the leader (don't remember her exact CP but it was well under 160).

When we got into the dungeon all the enemies WERE CP160.
And the same for when we did the Dungeon Finder with the same group.
Thought it was pretty odd.

Just did vet banished cells at level 16

and I was the highest level. Difficult, but fun!

I love Vet Banished Cells, especially for my tanks as I think it is a good dungeon for tanking. Can be challenging with lower DPS but I think is one of the more enjoyable Vet dungeons.

If all enemy are CP160, you have also been leveled to CP160 so technically you are on par with the dungeon. We all know that lack of skill and experience is then what makes things harder. I freaked out the first time I came across vet 16 enemies in a dungeon as a level 18, I died pretty quickly and could not get out there fast enough.
