You really need the weapons to make elegance work, and they arent cheap. Otherwise, I think you sacrifice too much DPS on the non boss rounds. Nothing wrong with a combo of Julianos and Magnus. I personally like Twice born for the extra stats.

My go to bars for a magic Sorc in VMA:

Destro Staff - Crushing Shock, Cyrstal Frags, Elemental Blockade, Bound Aegis, Inner Light, Overload.
DW - Power Surge, Liquid Lightening, Hardened Ward, Bound Aegis, Dark Conversion, Overload.
Overload - Power Surge, Liquid Lightening, Hardened Ward, Bound Aegis, Inner Light, Overload.

Bound Aegis is on all three bars as a toggle, keep it on. When learning, you could definitely drop Frags from your front bar and Triple bar Hardened Ward. That is how I ran it for a long time. It's nice to know that pressing button 'X' will always give you a shield.

You get your heals from Surge and your 2 Ground DoTs. Use your shields for the big hits. Use Overload for Bosses and certain mini-bosses. Use Dark Conversion between rounds or if you need a burst heal. In which case, cast a shield, then dark conversion. It's a huge heal and gives magic. This skill got a really nice buff. I also recommend Rune Cage in a handful of places to use as a stun. Works great on round 5 boss, the Archers in 7, and pretty much all of stage 9. Not necessary, but helpful when learning. I flex out dark conversion for rune cage.

You should be able to just use cheap magic pots with this build, but if you want to use tri pots, go nuts. They are really helpful on the final boss. Make sure your gear is Divines and at least the weapons are gold and sharpened. You will probably want a little extra health when learning. Healthy willpower stuff is cheap.

I think BIS gear right now is 2 Kena, 5 Elegent, 5 Julianos, Sharpened VMA inferno staff (sharpened Elegant Swords).

Best thing to do is just get in there and bang your head against it for a bit. If you get stuck, ask for help. Stay on the attack at all times. Your best Defense is high DPS. Do your best to keep up your ground DoTs (blockade and lighting), power surge (spell power and heals), and Cast your frags immediately after they proc. Otherwise, medium weave crushing shock at all times. Crushing shock is also a great interrupt. It is much better than Force pulse when learning this place.

Also, make sure to tab target. The worst thing you can do is spread your damage around because you will get overwhelmed. Determine the most dangerous add, focus it, and move on. As a general rule, I go: Healers, Archers, Mages, Melee. I DPS the ranged adds and kite the melee ones. With practice you will learn what spawns where.

For Bosses, once you learn the mechanics, your goal is to overload them from 100-0 on almost every fight. Build ulti during the rounds, and dump it on the boss. With practice, you will figure out what non-boss adds are worth overloading as well.
