Light & Heavy Strikes Missing Target

Is this a thing now? I've had several instance where my light & heavy strikes hit nothing but air when I'm standing right on top of a mob. If I then use a class or weapon skill it always hits. This seems to be fairly new for me.

I believe there is an issue with minor mobs that striking them in certain case scenarios renders them pretty much invincible. It seems to be associated with channeling. Both times I've seen enemies take my Crystal Shards or I'd swing my weapon and nothing would happen, no miss, no damage, just nothing despite it full and well actually hitting them. Only a Heavy Attack from a Shock or Restoration Staff would fix this.

Sounds pretty similar to what I'm experiencing. I would engage with Stampede, followed by Brawler, and both hit. Then I start to weave light & heavy attacks. They all miss. I could stand there all day swinging and hit nothing until I use a skilled attack to "reset" the bug.

I'm seeing issues in PVP where inferno staff heavy attacks miss quite often, and it seems to happen mostly when I'm crouched/using Dark Cloak. My target isn't using Shuffle or dodge rolling, so it should be hitting.

Just another bug in a long list of bugs ZOS has failed to address or fix. I just reported an issue with Sword and Shield Invasion In PvP play were you will not impact the target just go right thru them. And yes like you I have missed many light and heavy attacks. Seems reporting bugs is just preaching to the choir when it comes to ZOS. Their incompetence is just plain pathetic.

Missing targets is a feature if you are much lower level than what you are trying to hit. Other than that it can sometimes be because of the target's hitbox, if you find you have this happen a lot, and not because you are too low level compared to the target, then I would recommend using the lock-on system, which will help you hit a target more reliably.

i have seen a few cases lately following jabs with light attacks - yes i stopped jabbing to do light attacks sue me - but it was fixed by re positioning my target cursor/reticle a smidge.

in general, ever since Tg but maybe more since Db, the wiggle room on light sand hvy attacks seems less forgiving forcing me to actually put cursor on target or risk a miss.

I'm 2H sword and same level as the mobs. I'm literally in the mobs face. All I have to do is use a skill attack and then the light/heavy start working again, without either of us moving or repositioning.

It's not that big of a deal in PVE, except I do use that for stamina regen.

Under normal circumstances it would indeed be a level difference. However, this is an entirely different issue and really has nothing to do with hitboxes. Direct hits do NOTHING! Not until a channeling attack is used on the enemy anyway.

Happens to me all the time, yeah. I assume it's just a slight server lag or some nonsense. They're actually slightly off your reticle or something but your display has them dead-center.

I weave for sta regen and for procs and for just the gladiator whammo execute when they get low. So i weave LA/HA all the time and this only happens to me infrequently and is solved by repo.

I have in fact had this issue where the mob then sort of teleported a few feet away. But in the case I just had, neither of us ever moved. I just kept swinging and swinging to see if it would ever hit, while popping a couple of heals from the damage I was taking. Finally I got bored and just hit him with Brawler and then the light attacks started finding their mark again.

Here is how my cases worked:

Case 1: My DPS Sorcerer was unloading Crystal Blasts on a Mudcrab in Gold Coast, the last remaining one of a swarm of them. The blasts were making contact, yet nothing was happening, and I was able to continue firing them. I fired several off and none of them did a thing. I then dealt a Lightning Staff Heavy Attack and the Mudcrab took damage and started coming for me like all was well. No lag or latency was involved whatsoever.

Case 2: I did a stealth Heavy Attack on my main on a Marauder in the Accursed Nursery while others were fighting Corintthac. The attack made the sound that it landed but nothing happened. Every attack thereafter I may as well had been swinging at a hologram. No sounds of contact or anything. I then stepped in front of him to see if he'd respond and he did. I came out of stealth and he began attacking me and I STILL could not hit him. He then took damage from someone attacking him with a Restoration Staff Heavy Attack and chased after them. I lost track of the Marauder after that as I went after a treasure chest he guarded lol but again no lag or latency was involved at all.

Case 1 was oh I don't know a few days to a week ago? Case 2 was just earlier today.
