Make Dark Shades a Toggle like Leeching Strikes?

For most instances, Shadow Image > Dark Shades.

It's hard to beat an ability like Shadow Image that 1) maims a target from range, and 2) allows teleportation back to said target in an instant - which is why Dark Shades is lackluster in comparison (it just summons two shades that both debuff the same target, and have to do so at melee range while providing very little damage themselves).

I have been thinking about ways to make Dark Shades a more desirable morph, and wonder if it would benefit from being a "cast and forget" toggle like Leeching Strikes. In theory, if implemented, the Dark Shades morph would be up at all times as long as it is toggled on and slotted on your bar. Tanks would benefit from not having to recast Dark Shades over and over (most use Refreshing Path to activate Shadow Barrier, anyway) and it becomes a little bit more desirable of a skill to at least consider, instead of Shadow Image.

I don't think many people will use it as toggle. It's much to weak to give up 2 skill slots for it.

I think it would be cool if Shadow image was more of an actual shadow of you, doing basic attacks at a reduced damage but benefitting from everything your character has (gear procs, passives, enchants)

How to properly buff Dark Shades:

    • Increase shade duration from 15 seconds to 30 seconds (big buff, fire and forget, useful over the other morph)

    • Increase Minor Maim duration from 4 sexonds to 6 seconds (small buff)

    • Summon three shades, up from two shades. (DPS boost, cooler, more hits to procs certain sets)

    • Decrease damage dealt per shade attack by 20% (needed since there's three shades + longer duration now)

    • Either deals Magic damage or Physical damage based on whether Elemental Expert or Mighty has more Champion Points invested. If they both have the same amount, it deals Magic damage. (Stamina Buff)

I think this would be enough to make this morph a highly valid choice.

I would like it if they could be a valid attack target AND taunt stuff away from me so I can strike enemy mobs from behind, but that got shot down a while back.

Really weak skill just set this on a npc and say crippling grasp on another and compare the dmg.

Ask a sorc what they feel about toggle pets.

I really like this idea. I enjoy Sorc pets just for the purpose of them pulling aggro on a tough enemy. If Dark Shades could do the same thing I would really enjoy using the skill.

I personally prefer Dark Shades because I can recast it anytime without the teleport interfering. Also 2 shades is basically double DoT. Sure the fact it's close range only could be seen as obsolete but I still prefer it. Making this skill a toggle would only hurt it.
