I don't think there is such thing as a magic based dk tank. Or even a pure magic tank period. In all cases of tanking you will be the center of enemy attacks. This means stuns, knock backs, roots, fears, knock downs, and some aoe attacks all require a level of stamina to break free or roll out of. Not to mention blocking, Dodge rolling, running and sneaking use up stamina too.
If you want to try and be magic based your best option is a dark elf. You get max magic, magic Regen, and a max stamina bonus which is vital of you plan on tanking trials. You also get a minor fire resistance bonus and if you've played eso you know the majority of pve dungeons are fire heavy.
Just my opinion. Good luck

You can absolutely be a magica tank. I tank everything with less than 20k stam. Only stam move I use it taunt.
Dumner doesn't get magica regen. Max magica, max stamina, fire damage, fire resistance.
Imperial is a good choice for any tank. Max health and max stam.

Only stam move you use is taunt? What about blocking, break out, dodge roll, Sprint, bash?
And yea my mistake on the regen I meant a second max mag bonus
I've tanked everything in this game as a stamina based tank and I only have 20k myself. Claiming to be a magicka tank with 20k stam is quite funny to be honest.AverageJo3Gam3r wrote: »@M_TeK_9 you haven't spent much time tanking or playing with mDK. Oh really? So you know what classes and races I've played then do you? Lol
Fact of the matter is there are too many things that tanks must do in this game that cost stamina for anyone to legitimately claim a pure magicka tank.
You need stamina. End of story. If you're going to try and utilize magicka for tanking though like I said dark elf gives a bonus to both resources with a slight nod to magicka
