Do you think this would help everyone?

To start off I'd first like to say that I love this game and have since the first day I installed it.

As time has gone on though I've noticed that the player population has unfortunately dropped significantly. Part of this I feel is due to the issues that this game is having with lag, crashes etc obviously the main reason is different games have come out and people started playing them instead which is perfectly understandable.

What I'd love to see, and I think that most people would agree with me, is a lag free crash free eso. Obviously this won't happen overnight and the devs are obviously doing their best but I feel like they're pushing out dlcs every 3 months just for the sake of it.

Why not take more time between dlcs to fix issues that the came is having, instead of 1 relatively small Dlc every 3 months with bug why not give us 1 big one every 9 or 12 months but up the CP a little bit during this time to give people something to work towards. A lot of the people I play with would much prefer a Dlc that we could explore for a month or 2 rather than a Dlc that
, if you really want to, you can finish in a day.

I feel like this time would give the devs more breathing room and let them focus on fixing the bugs and issues that this game has and focus making this game even better and bigger than it already is.

I understand that Zenimax are a company and companies have to make money but why not take a dip in profits for the good of the players before it's too late and people leave to due sheer anger.

Any constructive input is more than welcome.
Happy questing everyone :)

Where are you seeing the population drop off ? I started another toon and was surprised to see how crowded the starter areas were . Of course I also agree with ZOS taking time towards maintenance instead of content . That's always a good idea .

When I started playing this game a year ago the mournhold wayshrine area was pretty much full 24/7 now if theres 20 30 people running around its a bit of a shock, I'll admit that I have seen more people on since DB dropped but it's not as significant as before.

While I don't disagree with the sentiment of preferring larger, more in-depth DLC... this would not give the devs the "breathing room" they need to fix bugs. If anything, the numbers you gave would make the dev crunch even harder.

Say it takes three days to develop an hour's worth of content. (I don't work in software development, so this is just a number pulled out of thin air, but let's just go with that for the sake of the exercise). So, three days. That includes building out a dungeon or quest-related buildings in the game world, recording the voice acting for it, scripting, playtesting, everything.

In a small DLC that you can knock out in a day, let's say that's 8 hours of content. So, that's 24 days of development time, not including weekends. Including weekends, it's a little over a month of development.

Now, a month's worth of content.

Let's give it the same amount of playtime: 8 hours a day for 31 days is 248 hours of content. Given three days of dev time per hour, that is... 744 days of development time, for the DLC that is supposed to come out in nine month. That is literally two years of development. And that's without including weekends.

So, even though I did pull the "three day" number out of thin air, the point is the ratio in the development times. A month's worth of content takes 31 times the time it takes to make a day's content, while you're extending their work time by, what, three times?

If anything, this model would put even more stress on the developers and give them even less time to devote to bugs. There's no breathing room in increasing their workload by a factor of 10.

    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

Lag-free.. haaa, in a perfect world, maybe. A DLC every 5-6 months versus 9-12, with those fixes you mentioned in between. :)

OP has a point , i'd rather love to see a dlc released once half a year or yearly but with a stable game .
It's obvious that with each update they release new problems come along
I hold my hart for future projects like housing ..
don't get me wrong , i really hope for the best for this game and i don't think people are gonna complain about less dlc , performance on the other hand makes people quit

That area got very laggy apparently due to the number of players there. It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of players have found other places to hang out other when strictly necessary for writs. A lot will also be doing TG and DB stuff along with Wrothgar/Orsinium. My overall impression from traveling around the alliances is the same as most others who reply whenever it's alleged that the population is falling, namely that the opposite is the case.

I'd prefer a huge Bug Fixing/Crash Fixing/Performance Improving Patch over the next dlc. Its really not funny anymore.
Saw a video of how good old pvp was(lag free!) and cant believe how Im still playing this laggy mess.

It doesn't matter how much time they invest in fixing lag and crashes, it will all go right back to square one or still get laggy and stuff when the next DLC rolls out.

Yes, everyone is fed up with lag and the 9,001 threads on the forums complaining about it is evidence of it, but all they can do is work on it as they go. The day they stop releasing DLCs is the day they will focus on permanently cleaning up the game.

    its not Either/Or!

The development team made a really big To Do about dlc pretty much every quarter & forever more, and how its beneficial for the long term success of the game.
Every few months there will be some new content, this is a GOOD thing.

& Yes, there are ongoing performance issues and goals they need to meet, that are ALSO needed for the long term success & health of the game.

First off, this gave me the best laugh I have had in months! Dip in to profits to keep customers happy? HA! Like that's gonna happen, ever.

I don't disagree with you. It would be far better if they could address the lag issues rather than releasing DLCs constantly, but, honestly, if they didn't keep up this pace, so many people would be complaining that they're not releasing them fast enough and leave anyhow. Do you remember how people were before IC or Orsinium?

Somehow, I just don't think Zeni can win.

Dlc is beneficial to the game, but unplayable dlc has the exact opposite effect.
