Xbox One Question Concerning Console Text Chat Coming this August:

Hello with update 11 including console text chat, which is a feature that many Xbox One users and probably quite a few PS4 users have been begging for is finally coming this August, and I am super excited, as I am unable to use my microphone majority of the time. Now I will finally be able to get into guilds, socialize with the community other than the forums and so forth. I have been playing ESO more or less in a single player like fashion meaning I mostly mind my self in the game and do a lot of content by myself, as I have hadn't had a choice, but that's going to change once console text chat officially arrives. My question is I am wondering if it would be a good idea to get a chat pad the keyboard based accessory that connects to the back of the associated platform's controller? I do have a wireless keyboard that I use for web surfing and the like on my Xbox One, but I am not quite sure if I should keep what I am doing or go ahead and buy the chat pad. I am a little on the fence about it mostly because there seems to be a large amount of reports of where when you plug it in it can have chance at breaking your controller. This breaking problem seems to affect a large majority of brands including Microsoft's own official model, I do not know if this problem affects the PS4 models as I do not play on PS4 nor will I play on PS4 as I will lose all my progress which is quite precious to me. My controller's warranty is almost a year old and most definitely out of the 90 day warranty with Microsoft. I can't afford another controller now especially if I buy the chat pad and the limited time items coming on 21st that I am mostly definitely not missing. I also pre-ordered through my local GameStop Deus-Ex Mankind Divided which I will need to pick up at the end of next month, so that also makes getting another controller if it does break not even possible. With all this said what does the community of ESO suggest?

I'm a PS4 player myself, but I use a wireless keyboard with no issues.

Honestly, I'd rather use a full sized keyboard than a smaller accessory that forces me to type as if I'm using my phone.

Yeah it's a wireless Logitech Keyboard plus Mouse combo pack, but since there is no mouse support on Xbox One I just removed the batteries for the mouse and the keyboard works just fine by itself. Also a little off topic, but are you guys/ladies excited for this upcoming feature?

Does a bear *** in the woods?

Text chat changes ESO from solo to co-op for me. Can't / don't use mic all that often as the wife is a light sleeper, and she's worse than the bear above when she's woken.

I must be living under a rock since this is the first that I have heard of this. Now I am going to have to buy a keyboard for this..and honestly it sounds like a wonderful feature. Will help IMO finding groups, sales, and whatever else you fancy.

Yeah they finally announced it to go along with the Shadows of the Hist dungeon DLC pack. August 16th for Xbox One(I think, but I am not positive)check the official news page under "update 11: Shadows of the Hist." I am not going to be able to pull it up to link it for you right now as my internet is being finicky.

EDIT: To be brutally honest what I want to say to the devs is "it took you long enough, although I guess it's better late than never."

Hmm I am the total opposite. Why would I put down my controller to use a full size keyboard to type some things when I can use a chatpad for but I can type fast on my chatpad though.

as a person who owns the mircosoft official chat pad for the xbox one controller i can say it is well worth it if the zone chat will be your main way of communication it would be a very good investment as 5 sec of the pad or 2 or 3 min in screen board can save alot of time like when in dungeons and saying hold on need to switch the couple secs to type hold on with the chat pad and the 30 sec it would with the screen board can mean the difference in saying it in time or when your group is half way into the next adds.

See this is why I love these forums...I didn't even think about the chatpad and how helpful that will be in game. Awesome non-suggestive tip my friend! Now to Amazon to find me one!
