Experience scroll/ Psijic Ambrosia and training gear. Run through all the areas discover all way shrines, sky shards and lore books, random daily dungeon. All the dungeons to get skill points. Lore books and sky shards in Cyrodl the quests there are pretty quick too. Maelstrom Arena normal is good xp also.
You definitely want to take advantage of the new Training traits. At blue quality, they give a 70% bonus to kill experience, which makes grinding a breeze. Goes up to around 77% if you upgrade them to purple. But yeah, best way nowadays is to just make everything Training while you're leveling up. I started a character two days ago and he's currently level 46 after 16 hours of play time (which is actually slower than normal as I've been afk a lot/goofing off). Add a scroll on top of that and you'll be 50 in no time.
If you can take one of those experience scrolls and wear training gear.
What I would do is, concentrate on completing the main story. Once you complete the main story go to Coldharbor ( at that time you should be around level 40 or a little above).
Grind Zombies ( see map below ). You should see 1 or 2 other people there, group with them. The other day I way there for an hour and the person I grouped with went from level 42 to 46.
The zombie grind is near the black scull and white tower ( bottom left corner on the map ).

If you want a friend, get a dog.
AW Rank: Grand Warlord 1 ( level 49)
The only real reason to level up a character anymore is to get to 50 to start earning Champion Points. Outside of that, you want to build skill levels as fast as you can so you can unlock abilities. The Champion Points are the big picture item, but building skills fast will separate you from the chaff while getting there, especially in the "one level for everyone" areas, like the DLC zones.
So, while you are grinding out mobs, make sure you have all of the skills you want to grow covered so that you build those as you level the character.
