I'd like to see them be flexible. 1v1, 1vX, various group numbers, etc. Spectating would be a bonus,

I'd also like a matching system that helps players queue up to get random matches with other players at a similar skill level.

I hope everyone gets stripped naked and handed a bottomless supply of PIE to throw at other players. whoever hits players with the most PIE wins.

I would like to see the making it like WoW did it. Create a arena team (2v2, 3v3, 5v5...) and that team gets ranket points for wins and losses. Your team gets a rank and thats what matchmaking should be based upon.

I also would love to see small scale battlegrounds like 10v10 with some objective based stuff like capture the flag, or controlling outposts

If everyone thinks the complaints about balance are bad now, wait until it's instanced arena based. FOTM builds and FOTM group compositions are going to cause so much rage.

I hope some kind of 3 part system with XvXvX. Would mesh well with ESO since the balance would revolve around this more dynamik dystem rather than 2 opponent forces meeting. The best team would also be the one to be less noticed.

Im not against XvX battles, but its not very innovative, would just impose alot of balance issues and doesnt feel very ESO like.

Lastly. Battlegrounds (not Arena) MUST have an impact on Cyrodill some way or another, so as to keep Cyrodill relevant. A large coherent world is better than a fragmented instanced world i think!

EDIT: for my XvXvX thing, think Hungergames. Alot of single players who only themselves can win, in an arena of traps, who cant easily win by themselves! Could be epic!

I just want to be able to go up to another person in my alliance and challenge them to a duel on the spot with the wheel just like inviting to trade. Have the option to not receive requests as I could see many not wanting it. This should have been in the game from launch as DAoC had it over 12 years ago along with player housing.
Those small complaints aside, I really hope the bugs and lag get more attention and fixed as I love this game and it has the potential to be the best one out there for years to come (on console especially).

I just wish they add guild vs guild content.

I have had so much fun playing Warsong Gulch back in my WoW days and I think a similar battleground would fit perfectly in the world of Tamriel.

Another option could be: A domination type/Arathi Basin.
I know capture and hold flags like in imperial city is already a OVER-USED feature, but i still think it would be fun if they just do the following:

- Add player population cap. ex: 10v10 Doing this you remove the b***s*** battles were you are outnumbered by x players/zerg of doom


Arenas: I really hope to see a competitive type arena in future ESO. If done properly - implementing this would create a END-GAME goal that is:
- Competitive: At the moment competitive PvP is non-excisten (unless you think zerging is) Adding a player pop.cap. = first step towards balance. .
- Strategic: Who knows what the new "meta" will be. In 5v5 maybe a setup with 5 NB (max dmg) would be insane to fast execution.
- and very FUN!

A rank or score system that is providing players with titles, great set items and perhaps mounts that differ depending on final rank/score. (Can only be optained by competing in the ARENA)

also adding duels would be great should be as easy as inviting someone to trade or stepping inside of a small zone to start
