Crafting Writs changes with SotH

Now, I'm not one to complain about ESO, but this felt harsh. As a newish player (3 months of playing) I only have 2 max level characters and one crafter that does the writs every day. I make 4k gold per day plus gold mats and surveys, but now I'll only make 2k gold a day and get no gold mats. It isn't going to be sustainable to do writs every day when I only get a survey some of the time that at best would give me 50 refined mats back compared to the necessary 50+ to make them. It is going to take away my main source of gold mats and gold. I haven't gotten a gold mat from hirelings in over a month and only have a stockpile because of writs. Now this is going to be ruined and it'll make grinding out gold gear for vSO and vMoL impossible. I already have to spend a crapton of gold or spend 5 hours in Wrothgar to make a full set of armor for a character, and now I'll have to spend even more gold and lose 4k gold per day from not being able to do writs. This is horrible and I hope ZOS reverses their decision or at they very least makes this sustainable so you can get a decent profit of mats from writs. At the very least they should make max level surveys drop only max level mats if we're only going to be allowed to use max level mats.

    So, what is the change?

The change I knew about was that tier 10 writs would only require tier 10 mats. No more of this, craft some nightwood you don't have a use for, and can't harvest in the zones you're visiting in order to get a crack at a cache of ruby ash.

Also, clothier surveys are supposed to have a leather cache in addition to the light armor stuff.

Not sure what this bit about gold mats disappearing is, though.

Huh, what about you get your mats by gathering/killing mobs/decon loot, this way they cost nothing.

There's no point to writs if they're not profitable, especially at max level.

I've never found a gold item drop. Only place I have gotten gold improvement tempers is refining, or hirelings.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I'm lost now, how could they not be profitable if crafting mats cost nothing ? To me it's pure profit.

Huh, what about you get your mats by gathering/killing mobs/decon loot, this way they cost nothing.

Deconstructing anything 140CP or lower can net you an average of 4-7 mats, while deconstructing anything that is 150/160CP generally gives you just 1 mat, unless its crafted which can give 5-10 mats oddly enough. That 1 mat per item really does not cover the difference when a crafted item requires at least 13-15 per item.

Makes me glad my max writs stop in Craglorn, void mats are more plentiful, deconstruct for more, and still gives you a decent source of nirncrux from surveys while still getting ruby mats in the mail.

From the 2.5.0 patch notes thread on the PTS board:
FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS, BASE GAME PATCH

    Crafting & Economy
    General
    • The top tier of durable Crafting Writs (Blacksmithing, Woodworking, and Clothier) now require only the top tier of material.
    • Being in a group while doing Crafting Writs will no longer sometimes share credit with your groupmates. Crafting Writs will now only ever advance based on your own actions.
    • We've made a new, unique icon for Tempering Alloy. No longer will you mistake it for Citrine, or vice-versa.
    • Fixed an issue that in extremely rare cases resulted in harvesting yielding an additional Runestone.
    Collectibles
    • Updated the display names for Collectible Skins – they no longer have the word "Skin" in their names.

So, again, I'm left scratching my head about gold mats being rarer once that goes live.

    Don't change the writs
Yeah with this change I just won't do crafting writs. Not worth the mats that go in it unless v16 mats suddenly become more plentiful.
